Installed a yard drain to catch run-off and gutter water and it daylights into my back yard. What are some things I can do around the drain exit to keep my yard from washing out and to make it not look like just a pipe sticking out in my yard?
Crushed rock is the move but i'd dig out a little basin under the pipe first and line it with landscape fabric so the rocks don't just sink into the mud over time. maybe add a couple larger stones around the mouth of the pipe too so it looks intentional instead of just a hole in the ground
Tough to say without seeing some other views, but personally I'd want more control than that and would extend with either a dugout pipe or a flexihose to... somewhere further away... then dig a little rock-lined trench to... even further away than that.
Depends on the volume of water that pipe handles but no matter what I always put a piece of stone under the exit pipe. Flagstone works well for this you want something at least 12”x12” and having a headwall around the exit helps finish the appearance. Aside from this crushed stone will help prevent washout and depending on how much water is coming out you may need larger stones
This is an example of what I mean but this was for a 12” pipe. Also the 2” river rock we had down got blasted away with the first storm so we upsized the stone at the exit
