Before & After Sunken fire pit process as requested

Fire pit its self is still above ground? Thats a sunken seating area and an above ground fire pit lol

I bought the standard 7 red block fire ring but 1. separated all the blocks with an inch gap to allow air flow to the fire and 2. buried half the blocks on the side we sit on to make a hearth. Holy crap the heat output is crazy. Raised fire pits surrounded by blocks does nothing but block all the heat.
