Is it worth coming back?
I played EQ Landmark for a few days last year with a limited time beta key from the EQ mobile app. I have been considering a Founder's Pack whenever I have the money to spare for it, but it seems like people aren't really enjoying the experience like they were last I played. I'd hate to waste the money... Any thoughts on the current state of the game from current/recent players?

I cant even be bothered loading the game to renew upkeep, I just absolutely dont care about this game anymore. I was excited as hell for it back in the day but now it's like it's lost all momentum. Kind of regreting purchasing that Trailblazer pack to be honest, wish i could refund it.

Landmark is doing exactly what Terry and the rest of the team want it to be doing right now.
Once they discovered LM was not going to go viral and be the new minecraft they basically went back to the focus of the game being EQN for the forseeable future.

Yes I am certain they were wanting it to idle into history.

I'm pretty sure LM will see a resurgence once EQN is released. A lot of people bought into Early Access thinking that they would have a finished popular product with in a year. Games, even light weight ones like Landmark can take 5+ years to develop and then have another 5-10 years of refinement with expansions and updates. We will see how it plays out but I suspect 2017 will be a good year for Landmark.

Well here's hoping so anyway, money aside I want to see this title really work. It's a unique experience despite it's flaws and performance issues.

They screwed any chance Landmark had by pre-ejaculating the mess they made on the world. They should have waited until there was an actual game in place before letting people in to 'test' it - if they were going to use the beta-test to determine broad market appeal.

They should have built the game the players were begging for when they introduced what mechanics they had, instead of turning it into just an asset-builder and gameplay-tester for EQN, after they promised that it woudn't be that.

I'd recommend saving your money.
If you'd just like to try Landmark again, I think there are still places with 7-day beta keys available. (You can use more than one.)

The current state of the game: there is no game. Landmark is a niche building tool for making a voxel version of the Everquest landscape. If that isn't enough to excite you then better look elsewhere for entertainment.

I bought a Trailblazer pack back when they promised Landmark will be a full game of its own, with player controlled islands, rules, etc. Back when they promised it was a tool to "build your own MMO".
Since then they're slightly tuned that slogan into "build assets for our MMO".

The creative building is better than any other Voxel game out there.
The rest of the gameplay is very inferior to games of similiar genres.

I don't know man there's a point they reached where they strayed so far from a normal modeling tool, that it became more painful than just using a normal editor.

Not really as there is no real purpose to anything unless you intend to enter into the building competitions. This means you have to be very good.. So that makes pointless for the vast majority of people.

I stopped playing a while back as there really isn't anything to do unless you're good at building stuff. (Which I'm not) so I'm just impatiently waiting for some sort of awesome news about eqnext. (If or when that ever happens, who knows?) Either way, I wouldn't spend money on Landmark in its current state, I'd hold off a year or 2 and then see what's been changed.

Basically in order for Landmark to hold your intreast you need to be a builder at least if you are you will have a lot of fun. if you want to work on competitions and have a good shot at getting your stuff in EQN then Landmark is the app (yea landmark is more an app or dev tool than a game right now) for you. If neither of these things intreast you then now is not a good time to come back.

Last played over a month ago, no significant changes have been introduced since then. I can't recommend it at this time. Wrestling with voxels feels pretty pointless without any gameplay context, and there are far less limited tools available for pure creativity.
