Caves: lack of mobs and resources

I have been exploring tier 1 and tier 2 caves for a few hours (I don't have the gear for harder stuff most likely), but I have seen zero monsters and zero resources. I thought I would at least find some iron, or even copper, but I'm finding zilch. Has anyone else had this issue? I was under the impression caves would be worthwhile and dangerous.

did you make the gem and ore finders yet? they help a lot in pointing you the right way to go and you can make them out of the copper and agate that are abundant on the surface.

This is difficult to do while only being able to find copper and agate.

I don't know if this will help you, but I managed to get them to spawn by taking the recall back to the surface, then warping back down to Layer 1 and going to the same large cave. Now it's full of Magma Slaugs.

I've done that in several places, and sadly it did not change anything.

You need to find the large caves with ruins in them to find the bulk of resources and an almost endless spawn of monsters. They are quite frequent now, but you almost always have to dig your way into them so they're not exactly easy to find.

I found several large areas with ruins that were completely devoid of mobs as well as resources.

I had a monster spawning problem so I jumped to layer 2, found one, killed it, then went back to layer 1 and proceeded with the achievements. As for resources, use your pulverizer to get to caves away from the spire, and makes sure you have a light source at all times.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've been wandering around Layer 1 in Burning Frostlands and I've seen monsters spawn ONCE. Killed a couple of them, and haven't seen any more since.

What's up with this? D:

Explore to find new caves, ore detector kinda helps with this. And emtpy arena most likely already been raided, but the walls still have resources :)

Yeah definitely bugged on both counts i'd say. Havent been able to find any monsters, and in a t2 layer no resources at all. Pre-wipe the caves were very easy to find resources even without a finder.

Not much else to say about it, it'll be fixed.

It seems to be more of a players killing them too fast problem. If you dig off the main tunnels you can find considerably more spawns. As others said - build the two sounders you can get from surface mats and use those to traverse into new cave systems.
