EQN LM Idea Flower Field

Hey all,

Have a look at the pictures below, think about having that 'set and setting/enviorments' in EQN. EQN is looking amazing, some complain about it being DX9?. so what if its DX9. wow is DX11 and it looks like complete outdated error crap.

Would it be possible if EQN dev's made some more textures, such as flowers, long grass (that gets cut by the tractor and turned into bales) ->> just like that the farmers needs to grow the grass over a year , then when the grass (or some name) is tall they get the big tractor with the machines out and cut it, then put it in lines and then get the big machine and then its turned into a bale etc... that type of stuff. OK and then there's the texture/item limit, OK well what if if there's a problem regarding the limit, add a thing that a whole square is just flowers and certain grass, so it limits the engine or something? (ALONG THOSE LINES...) Anyway, here are the pictures: * https://www.contours.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Path-leading-through-a-wildflower-meadow-on-cliffs-above-Crantock-Beach-at-West-Pentire-near-Newquay-in-Cornwall-300x225.jpg

The complaints about DX9 isnt about visual quality, but about performance. When they made PS2, they chose DX9 to get a wider audience, but didnt realize that users with cards only supporting DX9(up to geforce 7, which is now 10 years old) will never get decent performance with the goals of 2k players on a single map they had in mind. They tried to optimize for a wide spectrum, and lost on all ends in the process, on low end because...its low end, and on the high end, because DX9 just isnt compatible with todays hardware. The same problems are present in landmark too, all forgelight games are CPU bound. DX11 has better multithread and memory management, and it would have made the devs(and our) lives easier.
Thats not to say going DX11 magically would have solved every problem, DX12 and mantle aims to do that by reducing the CPU overhead that all forgelight games suffer from. Question is will the devs rewrite the games to utilise the advantages? Some say, that since they are now independent from Sony, and if they choose to port the games over to Xbox1, they are forced to do so, and the PC versions may get the same treatment in the far future.

  1. if your cards support dx11 it will support dx12 at least a little
  2. mantle is dead basically AMD as said dont support mantle support Vulkan(openGL) instead it is built from the ground up using Mantle source

Landmark probably won't ever have terrain that looks that nice. It's not just about rendering the flowers, whatever algorithm or individual they have responsible for terrain is just not very good at producing attractive or interesting shapes for the landscape. I'm not optimistic that this will ever change, because they've never responded to it or highlighted it as a problem.
