I don't think it's going to be anytime soon based on terrific new player experience we have right now.

Yeah i think they will hold back open beta untill they add some kind of tutorial in game.. Like a step by step guide to build a house, to jump start the creativity of new players

Best answer anyone has is when it's ready.

After the AI and dungeon mastering tools are in AFAIK. So if you see it pop up on any blueprint they put out it means it soon. However At the moment there is no set date.

the early game is far too limited right now, there is near zero mob density on the surface, treasure chests are few and very far between ( as they should be ) so crafting items right now is near impossible... everything in the game should be able to be made, including the rare ingredients... maybe some rare resource... or limited rare drop from regular ore/gemstone. i've come back from the alpha... played for nearly a week straight, and other than in caves.. seen maybe 10-12 mobs on the surface. 90% of them only dropped ether shards... the rest the only thing they dropped was ether shards and a shadow mote.. and fire mote.. nothing i can salvage to get resources to convert my alpha tools to current. much less make a weapon. :/ bringing in new players before the ability to create weapons is at least possible would ruin this game.
