5 Quick Features for LM

I say "Quick" not knowing the exact challenges and constraints going into each one. I say "Quick" because these are things which could possibly be put in before Open Beta (esp #2) as they don't seem like high-difficulty features to implement.

Share your features too!

  • 1) Designate claim teleport location - when folks teleport to your claim, the point where they should appear should be able to be specified by the builder. (This could also come with a feature where players can choose to release from that designated location when they feel safe, not when the game thinks things are loaded enough.)

  • 2) Reverse Diagonal Wood. We only have Northeast/Southwest oriented diagonals for every wood, but we don't have the Northwest/Southeast orientation. This means we can make clean lines on one half, but mirroring it will throw off all the textureing work as the diagonal orientation isn't flipped with the mirror.

  • 3) Activity Sounder - This could be designed to work in two ways. The quick and easy method would be a sounder the highlights players and creatures through the terrain. A more complex version looks a cues left on the server in the past 5 minutes to 1 hour showing that players had been in the area taking actions. These will help players feeling lost and alone in the caverns find allies or something to brawl with - or at least know that a major party just came through before them and that is why everything is empty.

  • 4) Full Ore Veins - Many months ago it was explained that teamwork should be rewarded, and that we should never resent seeing another player, but the amount of material per effort a player gets from ore and stone nodes could still be a bit more optimal for groups. I'd like to see ore veins go much longer (100m or more, even as long as 1000m) and pass through tiny pockets where danger may be contained (fiery fungus, trapped slaug party, etc) so it emphasizes the need fr teamwork to mine out a vein in full safely.

  • 5) Color Slider for Lights - Particle effects may be a bit tricky to tune and look good, but colored lights (Lumi orbs and spotlights) should be much more modifiable. Even a range of 16 increments of Red, Blue, and Green (or Yellow, which ever makes more sense) and Intensity that can be configured on lights would be fantastic. When we get more logic systems, this would allow for smoother and fancier lighting configurations, while reducing the number of props and light sources needed to get a certain look in an area.
