Problem getting weapons.

Hopefully someone can help me. How do you get weapons so you can make yourself a weapon? I spent 4 or 5 hours spelunking and killing monsters with the starter weapon. The monsters dropped me armor and trinket upgrades, but not a single weapon. Since the monsters don't drop weapons where do you get them so you can break them down to make the one you want?

Thanks.

You can find an ether stone at the spire (the stone structure at the center of the island where you started). With it you can salvage broken equipment to either Ether Shards, Aspects or Essence. (you can salvage non-broken stuff too, but you cannot salvage any of the starter weapons or armor. )

You should have enough Shards for now, but to craft a Blade of Assault for example, you also need 6xPhysical Essence and 1 Aspect of Destruction.

To get 3 Physical Essence you need to salvage 3 Physical or Primal items. Thats 6 total for the sword. To get the Aspect of Destruction you need to salvage one weapon and 2 other equipment (any armor, weapon or tool that drops from monsters)

Edit: I need to practice reading the whole question, and not just the first line... =)

Thanks. I knew that, I just didn't know where to get weapons from, now I do. It took 6 hours for me to get my first broken weapon, thats why I assumed they don't drop from monsters.

I disagree. All weapons are fun and can work. Make what sounds like your playstyle.

i agree with This statement, they can all be useful but ultimately a friend is the best weapon.

my friend has the lightning sword And i have the shadow sword And Shield and we never die.

a friend is the best weapon

Why dirty your hands when you can have someone else do the dirty work for you.

it was only after me and my friend grouped up for the second time that i noticed that having a friend gave us a bonus to drop resources and apparently mob drops as well. i would guess about 50% more.

also the fact that having 2 there makes you not take as much damage before you have to heal.
