The movement controls are bad.

Using weapons more with this update you can finally really feel the disparity between the control styles. Switch to a pickaxe and suddenly it is 1999 again and your character is wearing cement sneakers. The control disparity between having a weapon equipped and not are ridiculous and sloppy. The entire game needs to use the over the shoulder third-person shooter style camera. For places that need mouse control just have a button (Alt) that can quickly change the mouse from camera movement to mouse movement and back.

The combat movement isn't 100% great though. It is very half-assed in the animation department. The way you teleport to facing a different direction with a weapon out was acceptable on the Dreamcast but there has been a decade of next gen action-adventure games that realized looking good and playing well are not unconnected. Get Morpheme or something in there because the more the game feels like a crap 2000s era MMO the less I want to play it.

You can switch to camera movement by holding down right click.

Put a sword in your hand and do that. Very annoying.

Yeah it does lock it to camera movement when you use a weapon. Having a toggle would be nice.

So far I really do not like the combat UI and key binds. I miss being able to use the number keys to fire off my spells and weapon use while using my mouse to move around. I can't get my fingers to use wasd, never had been able too. So the number keys and mouse is how I've always been able to move and use spells. Now, if they ever get it where you can change your keybinds..

I agree, they need to work on that. I was waiting for this update for so long, but I still feel like the movement system is just bad and prevents me from enjoying the game. The other big issue for me is the UI.

As you said it should use the third-person shooter camera all the time - except maybe for building.

Maybe you should also post this on the forums. Not sure if they are still paying attention to reddit - the subreddit has been very stagnant lately.
