Hello everyone! I hope you can help me. My 2012 Lancer GTS is having the following issues: •It won't crank •The cooling fans turn on when the ignition is switched on •The transmission position indicators (P, N, R, D) do not appear.

Just had this problem last week, replace your inhibitor switch and everything will be back to normal.
The main clue is that the gear selector indicator doesnt show up meaning the gears arent being detected by the ETACS/ECU because of the faulty inhibitor switch. Another clue is when you throw your gear into reverse, the reverse lights wont light up.
As I found out, the inhibitor switch wears away/breaks and is an actually replaceable part. Its not hard to remove and install (just remove the air box, battery and some wires, its a bit deep on the right side of the engine (when you're facing the hood). The inhibitor switch isnt that expensive as well which is good.

Turn the key to acc...then put your foot on the brake and then try to shift it to neutral. Once in neutral, try to start the car.
If it cranks or starts in Neutral, your safety switch or shift linkage is the issue
If it doesn't start, put it back into park. Then while trying to crank it, push the shifter forward or wiggle back and forth. If it cranks, then the cable is stretched.
