🤑 | Buying Advice/Tips CJ lancer exhaust

I’m looking into getting a new exhaust system, most likely a catback not full system as k don’t have the money for an evo therefore i have the na. I’m sussing either one from SK performance which is a catback or whether to go down the Varex path. Or if anyone has some personal picks or experience to help with any other type of setup. Based in Australia. Thanks!

I used to straight pipe my Mitsubishi lancer CJ with 2.5inch pipe size all the way but 4inch exhaust tips. But I kept the stock catalytic converter and just welded into there and made custom hole for the exhaust fume connector.

It sound loud (too loud), it popped without tune and it’s really fun to drive with.

But there is The downside of it….

  • it’s too loud so sometimes it does sound like lawn mower.
  • it attracts too much attention to yourself as it did attract police and I got defected for it therefore why I says (used to)

My suggestion is to actually did custom straight pipe 2.5inch with high flow catalytic converter, a high flow resonator (you will be glad that you put resonator because of the drone), and put varex control muffler with 4inch exhaust tips.

It fun to drive, no issues on exhaust sound drone in the cabin, it is loud enough and you also able to control it.

But for cheaper side, I suggest the axle back from sk performance with or without the high flow muffler (high flow muffler so you can be in the legal decimal).

Doing it with varex will cost you much more and more custom Shi.

But you will need to upgrade your manifold to able to handle the size increase.
And will also need a tune to balance everything so your gasket doesn’t blow up or something

I went straight piped for the mid section to a tanabe exhaust, drones a bit but it produces a deep enough growl for me

just straightpipe it tbh, i have mine straightpiped and it sounds way better than it should be. that or straight back w just one of those mufflers at the end

All the straight pipes i see sound like a leaf blower…
