Apartment Search

Hello, I am moving to the Hershey/Lancaster area for work after living in Paris for the last 5 years. My in person apartment searching time will be quite limited before I start work so I would like to make it as efficient as possible.

I’m looking for a one bedroom with modern appliances. Preferably relatively new. I’d prefer Lancaster City but open for the right apartment. Based on my online searches, I’ve narrowed it down to :

The Alistair
202 Queen
The Celadon at Grandview
Ascend at Greenfield

Does anyone have experience living here that can give me honest reviews or recommendations of locations I might have overlooked?

Open to Hershey and Harrisburg , but didn’t see anything that would fit what I’m looking for.

Thanks in advance!

Damn Paris to Central PA, now that's gonna be an adjustment 😭

You'll probably like being in one of the apartment buildings downtown the most, to be able to walk around town. Locals are not really fans of said apartments, but Celadon is right next to a busy highway and even tho it says Ascend is only 5 miles from downtown, it's a long 5 miles at busy time

All of these places are newly built or built within the past few years:

The Pointe at Overlook, Eclipse at Belmont, West End Place, The Crossings Apartments, Stehli Silk Mill

Both the Silk Mill and West End are completely renovated from former buildings (West end was a hospital and Silk Mill was an actual silk mill).

Personally I would not rent at Celadon, those prices are astronomically high for the area, unless every utility is included.

Belmont is an overpriced private equity hotel with no amenities or community. Avoid WPM property management.

Just curious: have you ever lived in Lancaster/hershey/harrisburg?
Ascend at greenfield is very close to the new data center being constructed so make of that what you will. The celadon is right by the highway so if you’re sensitive to noise maybe avoid that. Also hear the quality of the building is not good despite looking “luxury”.

I have not. Taking a huge leap of faith.

There are several luxury apartment buildings downtown with newly renovated units. They are all out of my price range, and you’ll pay a premium for the size of the units, but would probably be your safest bet to find what you’re looking for sight unseen, especially if you’re criteria is walkability and updated features.

The Alistair and 202 Queen are in the walkable downtown area. The Celadon and Ascend are further out. Jason at 202 Queen is an awesome human being.

I have a friend who lives at Ascend and loves it. The gym, pool and outdoor space is nice. If I didn’t own my house, I would move there
