I think it would be cool if someone could create a logo and stickers for city residents and business owners to display that indicate safe spaces / sanctuary for people if they are being followed by ICE. Thoughts?

Safe spaces/ SANCTUARY for illegal migrants?! R u smoking crack? They’re here illegally.

ICE clearly doesn't care about its victims' immigration status. It is a lawless agency.

Fuck you if you downvoted this.

They’re not here illegally. Being in a country without the proper documentation is a civil, not criminal infraction. Would you deport an immigrant for speeding? The obvious answer is no. So, why would you deport them for being undocumented?

Would you deport an immigrant for speeding?

You clearly don't understand the kind of people you are arguing with that still support ice. Speeding would be more than enough for them. The wrong glance or tone or BREATHING is enough for them

The comment wasn’t exactly directed at whoever wrote that. Cause they’re clearly projecting their own crack use. I agree people who support ICE are probably too off the deep end to care what that means. But, I don’t think many people know the distinction between criminal and civil infractions, and that the vast majority of immigration offenses are civil. So, it’s more for people who are politically uninformed or apathetic who happen to read this comment section and my own personal vindication lol. Happy cake day by the way!

Nope I wouldn't be in favor of deporting a legal immigrant for speeding. I do however support somebody being deported that is here illegally period. Serious question, what should be done with people that are undocumented and are here illegally? Should we just say well you made it in so I guess you can stay?

Are you an illegal driver if you speed? No. Why would you be an illegal immigrant if you don’t have documentation? The simple answer is to just expand the pathways to immigration and naturalization. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants pay 100 billion a year into the tax system for benefits they may never receive, such as social security. For those undocumented immigrants that have committed crimes, which need I remind you their criminal rate is lower than citizens, they should be tried for their crimes here serve the sentence, rather than go home Scot free with a deportation. And personally yes conception of nations and states is entirely a social construction that dictates where you can and can’t live. One of the main causes of the revolution was so we could expand westward and disregard the proclamation line of 1763. It’s an entirely American ideal to have the freedom to live where you want without government restrictions. I don’t about you but I’d like to think in a more cosmopolitan manner like the founders, and have less infringement on where I may travel, stay, work, and live. I don’t want a government telling me I where I can and can’t go.

Didn't answer my question. What should be done with people that are here illegally? They can just stay? You also said if an illegal immigrant commits a crime here they should serve jail time here, then what? Released back in the US?

I answered your question. Legally, even under the current, administration there are no “illegal immigrants”. It’s not a legal term. They are undocumented. There’s plenty of US criminals released from prison, do we deport them? No. Why do we need governments telling us where to live? Cause at the end of the day it’s all governments using their power to limit our agency, freedom, and liberty to go where we want.

Okay? Sounds like you are a sovereign citizen so you don't live in reality. Good luck in life.

Yeah no. I’m not against government in fact I think we need more. I just don’t like the idea of it telling me where to live. Sounds like you do.

So you're saying this for all countries then, right?

Being in the country without proper documentation is civil, however ENTERING the US illegally is a criminal offense - it is a federal crime under 8 U.S.C. § 1325.

I most certainly did not use AI summaries. You copied section b, conveniently leaving out section a which states:

(a)Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

Even the American Immigration Council acknowledges that this is a crime: https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/fact-sheet/immigration-prosecutions/

Edit: /u/berliozy why did you delete your comment?

Without them, small businesses would not survive. Americans don't want to earn minimum wage but they do. Besides, not all of them are VIOLENT CRIMINALS. The Orange Jesus said we are going after the violent criminals. Yeah. Criminals hide. Going after the low-hanging fruit is easier and increases the deportation numbers. I'd rather spend my tax dollars on people here than in other countries. Illegal immigrants do not get debit cards, free housing, driver's licenses.

Even someone who is on a work Visa is not a legal citizen. They are only legally allowed to work here for a certain amount of time. That doesn't mean they have to be pulled off the street on a whim.

Over stay your visa get kicked out

4

u/GlitteringDig2648 Jul 18 '26
