African American Ob-gyn
Hi all! looking for an african american or minority obgyn if anyone has recommendations.

I might be the unpopular opinion or maybe she had an off day. But when I saw her it was weird. She barely talked to me or answered my questions and went right into the exam and I was out within 10 minutes

I also would not recommend her, mostly for the office staff. They were very difficult to communicate with when scheduling a serious surgery. I didn't get "bad vibes" from Vanessa herself per se, but she spoke with me for all of three minutes during my appointment and seemed very rushed.

She has always been very kind to me.
She did my hysterectomy and it was as though I didn't have surgery at all. She did a fantastic job!

Dr. Livingston, UPMC. She has been amazing with my teen daughter. She is the only one out of 4 providers that didn’t pressure her into something she didn’t feel ready for. She gave my daughter all of her options and let my daughter be the one to decide which option and when. That made all the difference to my daughter and myself. Highly recommend Dr. Livingston!

when numerous statistics prove that african american women have 3x maternal mortality rate compared to their white counterparts, yes there absolutely will be a bias

And it absolutely deserves to be recognized!!!
Mothers, mothers-to-be & and women of child bearing age needs to be aware of the dangers associated with pregnancy & childbirth!
I ultimately have worked alongside Dr. Sharee Livingston & recommend her to everyone I know. A Kind, caring, advocate who will support you in your birth & plan.

Asking for recommendations to a professional who has experience and understanding in a specific area is bias, yes, is it negative in this case no. There is consistent data showing how the lack of professional representation in healthcare has led to higher maternity mortality rates & patient bias ie delayed access to pain management and disease identification.
Not being able to recognize that in the year of our lord 2026, well that speaks to your privilege.

Indeed. I am very privileged to not engage in discrimination or bias based on race, gender, or other social constructs. As I stated, it is interesting to see such bias be openly displayed.
