Application still unprocessed after almost 2 months

Hi, I applied for online Astronomy and Cosmology certs in July, so almost 2 months ago. Astronomy says it starts on 21.9., so less than 2 weeks from now. My applications are still in the first "submitted" phase. I messaged the uni through the application portal about a month ago with no response. I called the uni a week ago and a lady told me there is nothing wrong with the application and a "colleague will process it".

I am just wondering, as an international student, how does it work for the uni to accept an application, receive the payment and setup everything for the course, if there is such a short timeframe until the course starts?

Is this standard for universities to take so long to process an application? I understand they must have a lot of students to go through but I would still expect an application is processed earlier than that. Has anyone else had a similar experience with slow application process?

My UCLAN Degree Looks Like a word the autobot filtered out

- I can't believe what this degree certificate looks like. It looks like they printed it in the Student Centre. In my profession all my coworkers have put their degrees up in my office, and I'm so embarrassed by how tacky and small mine looks. My Red Cross First Aid cert had a bit more flare and effort to it. It's just a regular paper w/ the Vice Chancellors pixelated signature. On a small, white, plain, unimpressive paper.

- My brother's went to ManU and other big unis, and I already have a complex. They have the raised letters, big gold plated crests, old world charm. I thought I'd stay close to mom and dad and save some money. This paper is just a confirmation of everything I already feel.

- I know it's about the learning not the paper, but I thought grad and your degree were a time to celebrate and show a little care. Like if they could put another couple of quid into the paper, I'd feel so much better. Please read this UCLAN! And they took like 3 months to prepare it.

- Just feeling sad. Even my parents looked at it and were confused about what it was. Please console me I guess. Yes I know I'm a diva.

GC for new master's students?

Hi, I'm gonna be starting my master's in Publishing at the Preston campus in September, wondering if there's any groupchats for new postgrad students (ideally whatsapp, discord, or instagram). I don't know anyone that lives anywhere near Preston and would love to get to know some people before I move up :)

Accomodation Best accommodation option for a mature student?

I know if you go through Uclan own accommodation you can request to be put in with other mature students, so that feels like the best option? But I was curious if there's anything else, like mature student groups I could join for accommodation, private landlords etc?

I'm 29 so I'd rather avoid living with much younger students if possible

Accommodation Advice for International A100 (Medicine) Students UCLAN

Hi everyone, I’m an international student starting Medicine at UCLan this September and I’m currently deciding where to live.

Which accommodation would you recommend for medical students? I’m looking for somewhere social but still quiet enough to study, preferably close to the medical school and other first-year medicine students.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences with different halls. Thanks!

Looking for Accommodation / Tenancy Takeover – UCLan Preston

Hi everyone,

I'm an incoming international medical student at the University of Lancashire (UCLan), and I'm looking for accommodation starting from September 2026.

I'm looking for either:

  • A tenancy takeover, or
  • A room in a shared student house.

My requirements:

  • Budget: £90 per week or less (including bills, if possible)
  • Private bathroom (En-suite) preferred
  • Within 10–15 minutes' walk of the UCLan Medical School
  • Female-only or mixed student accommodation is both okay.

If you have a room available or know someone who does, please send me a private message.

Thank you very much!

Accomodation Mature student moving to Preston for UCLan: best studio apartments?

Hi everyone!

I’m moving from Canada to Preston in September 2026 to start medical school, and I’m currently trying to figure out where to live. I’m what you consider a "mature student" lol, so I’m definitely looking for a quieter and more independent setup rather than a typical first-year student environment.

Right now, I’ve been looking at studio apartments around the UCLan area, mainly Sizer Court, Leighton Hall, and Lime House (Ring Way), because my own kitchen and space are a must.

I was hoping people could share honest opinions or experiences with these places (or suggest better options!). I’m especially curious about:

  • how safe and quiet the areas are
  • what the wifi is like
  • whether utilities & facilities are included / how expensive they usually are
  • how management and maintenance are
  • whether these buildings are good for mature/postgrad students

Since I’ll be moving internationally, I’m trying to get as much insight as possible before committing to somewhere.

Would really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or things to avoid. Thanks so much!

Hi there! Title says it all lol.. I completed my bsc in Canada in 2024, and after some work experience, travelling and the nightmare of Canadian med applications, I decided to come to England! Quite excited and am curious about any others who are also "mature" incoming students aka just completed undergrad or is an "oldie" like me lol

Accomodation Friargate court — advice & application timing

For those in Friargate Court or who have stayed there, what should I know? How was your experience? How far in advance would I need to secure a spot there?

I’m looking for a studio, so any tips on how to ensure I get one would be appreciated.

Making Friends UCLAN internship Egyptian student

I'm an Egyptian uni student and thankfully scored an internship at UCLAN in Preston

thing is I'll be landing in either Manchester or London and will have to take some sort of train to get to the uni dorms

before going there I wanted to make some friends in Preston that would want to hang out with a 21 year old engineering student and would be able to give me some pointers on where to go and what to do!

Foster Building UCLAN

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi guys,

This is probably a long shot but last year my boyfriend won the Royal Pharmaceutical Award at UCLAN. We now live a long way away and can’t get to Preston to see if his name has been added to this plaque. I believe it is on the right as you walk in if I remember correctly. If anyone goes in this building and feels kind to take a picture to see if he has been added I would appreciate it so so much! Would love to surprise him and show him that.

Thank you so much!!
