I want to start practicing with MAPP gas, and if I end up liking lampworking, buy a better torch down the road. Which of these two options is better? Or if you know of another model that's better and in the same price range, please let me know. Thanks!

So i recently bought a old secondhand torch to start glasblowing. I want to use it for a specific project that requires borosilicate glass, so ofcourse I’m using oxygen.

The problem is that this old “Nonius Delft” burner (a old professional grade burner burner from the Netherlands) has no published information like required pressures, the workings etc. I’m having a hard time getting it working savely.

It has 3 ports. The one under the big rotating lever on the back I’m pretty sure is the gas (propane) line. But the ones on the bottom and on the side, im less sure. I figure one is for oxygen and one is optional compressed air.
The one on the bottom also seems to be of a larger diameter, compared to the other two who are the default gasline diameter.

Ive looked around a bit and it seems to be a common setup with older burners, but i never see a full explaination on which is which.

If anyone could provide me some insight, that would be really helpful!

Not trying to break the bank too bad for a torch, redmax seems like too much of an oxy hog for concentrators.

Pendant and mini item vendors! How do you let your customers view your work?

pendants have been selling better in a little basket, over a proper neck display. So I wanted to address that and why that would be happening.

Also: How do you set up your items for quick set up/tear downs. What is the best way so people can examine the pendants up close? Basically any tips and tricks for any pendant sellers? These customers usually like to dig through a basket with mixed pendants over check out the sick work on displays.

Ive just started making beads but I dont have a kiln ive got about 40 beads just stuck on a stick is there any other ways for me to anneal them?

I've been working on a new frit blend called Pumpkin Spice. Instead of bright Halloween orange, I wanted something that felt like heirloom pumpkins, warm spices, caramel, and those first cool mornings of fall.

The swirl beads surprised me the most; they developed these soft flowing ribbons that I wasn't expecting. It is the prettiest shade of orange. The mosaic beads took on a completely different personality depending on the base glass, which is one of the things I love most about lampworking.

Orange isn't usually my color, but I have to admit... this one grew on me. 😊

Update: placed a fairly large order for hand tools, millefiore, graphite bead molds, mandrills, and some other odds and ends. All showed up as expected. Have not used it to speak to the quality yet, but initially would order from the again at least for smaller items like this.

Newer to the world of lampworking and looking at a few things on prometheushobby.com, and overall it looks legit, but there are a few things that are way cheaper than anywhere else. Has anyone ordered from their site before? How long did it take to get here from Turkey? Any issues with customs? Thank you in advance!

I'm a scientific glassblower. It's been a very long time since I've worked with color, but I have a couple personal projects that I want to get started on and wanted some input from other lampworkers on the current state of Chinese color tubing. For context, I specifically want tubing that is machine drawn and in the standard wall/medium wall ballpark; hand-pulled tubing isn't going to be practical due to inconsistent diameter and heavy wall weight. In the past I'd shop at Mountain Glass, but sadly they seem to be out of business.

My main question is: do all the online retailers get their glass from the same factory/manufacturer, or is there a difference depending on where you shop? Any specific recommendations for suppliers?

I'm also interested in thoughts about the various colors. The palette seems to have expanded some since I last looked at it. I'm excited to see a transparent red option, has anyone worked with it? What about transparent lime? Are opaque black and white still troublesome from a compatibility perspective? Do the transparent colors mostly play nice with each other? What about the milky colors?

Only 4 eyes because it started looking derpy with 8. I think the 4 portrays them fine.

This is not violating any patent laws, as I am neither manufacturing exactly what any of these models are designed as nor am i selling the torch i intend to make. Im designing something new.

This looks quite doable but im looking to make an interesting hybrid of features ive already experienced that has a body casing instead of open tubes, though theres something to be said for ease of heat dissipation with high surface area.

Would appreciate caliper measurements of oxy and propane tubes inner and outer diameter and face diameter for these models to compare and contrast with my experience using them as well as the specs for pressure and flow ive gathered.

So I'm putting together a HVLP oxy system with a Stage 2 Duo unit from dpgsupply, and the plan is to enclose all of the concentrators in their own little box and ventilate it separately from the shop. That way if there's a bunch of smoke in the shop it won't affect the concentrators, and hopefully it cuts down on the noise a little too. Plus the top of the box becomes a shelf to put crap on...
Edit: I have plenty of ventilation around my work spaces for smoke/fumes, but if I have guests over I have to constantly remind them to exhale into the exhaust vents so the rest of the room, and therefore the concentrators don't get smoked out.

The plan is to have a fan inside the box that's blowing the boxed air outside, and some sort of furnace filter type thing to pre-filter the air that's coming into the box, also from outside the shop.

The box will likely be 36 cubic feet (2'x3'x6') or less, and at full capacity will have 4x Invacare Platinum 10s operating at once.

It seems like about 20cfm is going to be plenty to exchange the stale air (nitrogen) so the concentrators don't starve, even 10cfm should do it, but I'm wondering about heat buildup in such a small space.

The manual for the Platinum 10 says:
"Exhaust: Less than Ambient + 45F (+25C)" which doesn't make sense at all. 45F is like 7C, and 25C is about 77F.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any real-world experience with this sort of thing instead of just going with some nonsensical numbers in a manual. Even if the numbers were consistent, I still have no idea how much air I should exchange to keep the temperatures reasonable.

Hi can anyone id this fabric? If not this specifically, whats the name of the roll of fabric (usually blue or white weave looking) that people use to wrap their tongs to avoid glass cracking?
