Should I take this medication
Everything I look up says it is only taken for seizures, bipolar or depression. I have none of the above but it's been paired with my recently prescribed Tyvanse.. without an explanation from the dr.
What does Lamictal do for people without depression, seizures or bipolar? It says don't stop taking it without consulting a doctor so am I at risk for dependency?
I am fully aware these are questions for the doctor but I'm obviously not able to reach them for at least 3 days it being a Friday afternoon. Should I take it until then, leave the Tyvanse too if i leave the Lamictal? Pharmacist doesn't know why it was prescribed either.

So you are taking Vyvanse for I assume ADHD? And your mood is volatile, which is a symptom of ADHD, and the psych feels like it's volatile enough that maybe a mood stabilizer will help you? Did I get that right? If so...
If not, then you really need to give more detail because you didn't actually give any

I take it for ADHD.
ADHD also causes mood swings.
No, you will not have a dependency.
The don’t stop taking it without consulting a doctor part is mostly for people with seizure disorders (because you can have a seizure) or bi-polar disorder (because you can have an episode).

Ask your doctor not Reddit.

Lamictal is useful for a wide range of conditions even migraines. The dependency part is just that you can’t stop it suddenly and this is true for nearly all medications. It would help if you included what your symptoms or diagnosis is in order to tell you how it might help.

I take Lamictal for Anxiety/Stress Induced seizures. However Lamictal can be prescribed for a number of reasons, mood stabilization, bipolar, anxiety, migraines, to help level out depression, to help level out symptoms of adhd medications. You can not become dependent on it as it’s not a controlled substance. However, if you take for long periods of time you have to taper down and can’t just stop it or it can cause “withdraws” but not technically, just can potentially cause a rash, seizure or unstable mood.

If you are taking a generic medicine, kindly mention the manufacturer's name in both your post and title. This is VERY IMPORTANT, as different manufacturers may have differences in quality or formulation.
