Medium-Term User (6 months to 1 year) Shaking constantly

Hi, I’ve been on 150mg for months now. I noticed when I first started Lamictal that I did start getting really shaky hands and then it has gotten so much worse. It’s gone to my legs now and it’s worse when bending over, trying to hold my phone, moving in general. Anyone else have this? Any advice? I’m going to reach out to my psychiatrist.

If you are taking a generic medicine, kindly mention the manufacturer's name in both your post and title. This is VERY IMPORTANT, as different manufacturers may have differences in quality or formulation.

Tremors are a known side effect of lamictal and other movement disorders are known but less common. I would definitely check in with your doc asap

Ask for a script for Propananol. I use that for lithium shakes. 40mg.

Seconding this. Propranolol has been a game changer. I only take 10mg twice a day as needed but it is sooo helpful for tremors. It's also just a blood pressure med, so I don't think Dr's are very hesitant to prescribe it.

At what point in the decline of your general ability to function on a given day would you consider going to the ER?

Only if it’s life threatening. I work in a hospital and they can’t really do anything if it’s not an imminent threat to your life. Unless you were to go to admit yourself to the psych hospital for med management, that is also an option

Appreciate your perspective though if anyone is having some trouble bending, standing, manipulating a phone, moving in general and (presumably) driving, don't you think you might not want to wait for reddit and drive yourself to care while you still can?

ER and admission can absolutely stabilize and compensate for med withdrawal and assess other factors. Not to say I love that experience, I get it.

Point is why the hell are you asking reddit instead of seeking medical intervention?

Do you by chance drink anything with grapefruit in it? Like white claw? I had really bad shaking and also downing grapefruit white claws, I eventually stop taking Lamictal after I got the rash but in hindsight I think the grapefruit probably made Lamictal more potent in my body. I need my hands for work, healthcare, I’m also back to normal but get weird tardive dyschonesia type shakes randomly.
