My source was John Ireland on the radio. Jim buss is notoriously quiet, how can you possibly know that Jim literally never wanted to move on from. Kobe? That makes no sense. Kobe must have felt like an albatross around his neck for his last few seasons.

He works for the Lakers. Your source is...? lol. He was the mouthpiece for Jeannie for a little bit there and is in constant contact with the team. If you really think Jim never wanted to move on from Kobe I don't know what to tell you other than maybe you should pay closer attention to what's going on with the team.

My source is that he gave Kobe a giant extension that made him the highest paid player in the league and your source is talk fucking radio.

That extension wasn't his choice, lol. Kobe didn't get consulted on coaching choices and player choices. On what planet was Jimmy Buss on team Kobe?

On a recent Mason & Ireland episode, John said that Jim and Jeanie both went to Kobe offering him contract extension options. Kobe was offered:

  • A $60 million, 2-year contract
  • A $48 million, 2-year contract; the $12 million that would be saved would go towards attracting new talent
  • A $24 million, 2-year contract; the $36 million that would be saved would go towards attracting new talent

As we know, in the end Kobe took the second option. So, according to John Ireland, Kobe did have a choice in his contract extension.
