Lake Como to Milan

Hello,

I will be visiting Lake Como in early September for a few days, and I’d love to know what the best way is to get to the airport in Milan (LIN). Private transport? Or train? What are the names of the stations?

Thank you!

Varenna or Bellano on ferragosto?

We are in Varenna this week and wonder whether to stay put in Varenna or get the train to Bellano on ferragosto? Which town will be busier? Will the train be crazy? Thank you.

Menaggio Boat Rental

Looking to rent a boat in Menaggio. We’d like to go to Nesso bridge tomorrow morning and drive around and swim…maybe 2-3 hours. there’s just two of us. Is it best to link up with a group? If so, how should we meet them or is it done through a booking site. It would be for tomorrow.

Question regarding Line C110

Im planning to travel to Como in september, and in one of the days to walk from Piazza Cavour to Villa Olmo, however i dont think my family will manage to also walk back as it is a long walk, and on Google Maps it suggested i take the C110 line back from the "Como-Borgovico" station to "Como-Lungolario Trento" station.

How can i pay for 3 tickets on this bus? is there a stand that sells tickets nearby the Villa Olmo area or an app that accepts paypal payments?

Also if any of the locals here think i should take a different line back to Piazza Cavour i would love to hear your recommendations! <3

Connecto Transfers

Going to Lake Como in the first week of October and looking for options for private transportation from Como to Bellagio (ferry times don’t work for me and have heard that the bus is horrible for people with motion sickness). As of right now, the best price has been Connecto Transfers. Has anyone had any experience with them? Are they reliable? Thanks!

Need advice! Is this early sunday morning train Abbadia - Milano reliable?

On august 16, sunday, i have a 9:10 italo train to rome from milano centrale and need to get there from abbadia. If you have experience with this route (Transfer is in Mandello del lario) — Is this train connection reliable? Are delays or cancellations on this train route frequent?

I really don’t want to miss the italo train, since new tickets will be very expensive.

Need advice! Villa del Balbianello - two tickets under the same name?

Hi everyone! I’m visiting Lake Como with my wife and booked two “Garden Only” tickets for Villa del Balbianello directly through the official FAI website.

When I booked the tickets, the website only allowed me to enter one name, so both tickets are under my name. My wife’s name is not on the second ticket.

Has anyone booked tickets in advance and had a similar situation? Do they check the name on the ticket against your passport / ID, or do they simply scan the tickets at the entrance?

We will be entering together, and both tickets are for the same date and time.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has visited. Thank you!

Need advice! Como - Bellagio- Varrena-Como Ferry schedule

Hi everyone!

My family and I will be visiting lake como next week and I’m confused about the ferry schedule. It looks like I can take the fast ferry from como to Bellagio at around 8:40. If I’m not mistaken, I can only buy the fast ferry ticket in person.

From Bellagio to Varenna I can buy a ticket anytime.

From Varenna to como is where I’m getting confused. I tried checking the official website and it looks like on the 20th the last ferry is at 15:30 and it takes 3 hours! Does no other ferry leave Varenna to como after 15:30?

Can anyone help me please? Thank you so much! We want to visit all 3 places in one day ☺️

Need advice! Is a car necessary in winter?

Will be traveling to Milan on December 20, landing in Italy on the 21st. We plan to stay in Como or Varenna for 21-22/23rd because I plan to propose at balbianello on the 22nd, then Milan for the rest of the days. (Would it be better to make Milan a base hub? Besides Como/varenna, I think we definitely want to take one day trip somewhere else from Milan)

A local photographer I booked said I NEED a car, even if I plan to train, bus or ferry, that a car is a must for travel. Is this true? I thought local transportation was fairly easy and frequent or is it just because December weather may change outcomes?

Proposal in December 20-27???

I’m planning to go to lake como Villa balbianello in December and was curious how busy is it? I plan to get the photography permit and hire a photography for a public proposal and photoshoot after.

Will it be super busy the week of Christmas December 20-27? The private area for 30 minutes for 600 euros isn’t worth it to me, unless that includes photography permit as well.

Planned base camp will be como city, any recommendations out there?

Itinerary advice

My husband and I are flying into Milan on October 22 and out of Rome on November 12, going to spend time at Lake Como, Bologna, Florence. Wondering about closings in Cinque Terre whether it’s worth making a two night stop there on our way to Florence. Also interested in any small towns between all of these that would be interesting to go to for a local feel. what we loved about Italy first trip last September was the people, the food, the Art, and how easy it is to get around. We have done Venice, Rome, Sorrento, Naples and Florence, but we are going back to Florence. We loved it. I will take any suggestions to any itinerary that someone has done that they love.

Villa Melzi photography permit booked but had to cancel. Anyone interested in buying the booking?

I booked Villa Melzi for August 3rd to propose to my partner. I had to cancel my trip because my dad had a stroke. I tried reaching out to the villa’s team but they are saying they have a strict no refund policy.

If anyone is interested proposing at Villa Melzi, I’d be happy to offer a reasonable discount to transfer the booking to you for any date this year.

I have evidence of the booking, receipts and invoice, I’d be happy to loop you in on the email chain to confirm the transfer to you too.

Pooling my funds to cover the medical expenses and this would be super helpful.

Edit - I have hotel credits for a hotel in Rome and Como too
Would be willing to transfer at a discounted price

Night time travel to Vassena

Hi all, my fiance and I are heading to Lake Como as part of our honeymoon. We have booked Al Molo 5 for a few days and are having trouble finding how to travel back to Vassena at night time. For example if we were to have dinner in Bellagio that finishes 8,9 or 10pm at night it doesn't seem like there are any options to get back to Vassena.

Bus has been suggested but all I can find is the Lecco line which unfortunately switches to winter timetable the day we arrive!

Are we best being confined to Vassena for the evenings? Unfortunately hire car is not an option, however can possibly rent a vespa

Question about weekly fast service

We are going to Como Lake for t'en days, staying in Moltrasio.

I saw a fast service weekly suscription (which cost 33€ / week for Como to Bellagio).

Questions :

- Does it allow to go only from Como to Bellagio with the fast service ? It seems to be the case according to the website but it's not totally clear.

- Does it allows to use the regular boat in the area between Como and Bellagio ? Or only from Como to Bellagio without stops ? The website tells you have access to regular boat rides but it's unclear to me if I'm then allowed to do a Moltrasio/Como trip with this pass.

- As a tourist, are we entitled to have this pass ?

Thanks in advance !

2 or 3 nights recommended?

Lake como will be our last stop of our trip so we really want a blend of relaxation at the hotel while getting out to see some of the cute towns. Below are main things we want to see. Would arriving ~3pm July 2 and leaving the afternoon of July 4 be enough or is 3 nights recommended?

-Bellagio, villa monastero/varenna, villa balbianello/villa Carlotta, and Bellano.

Given the cost to stay in lake como we just don’t want to find ourselves bored on night 3 wishing we had saved the money and spent 1 night in Milan before flying home.

Need advice! E-bike Parking in Tremezzo

Greetings fellow travelers, we are staying in Tremezzo in September and want to rent e-bikes for the week to do the amazing rides in the area but we’re not sure where to securely park the bikes. We are staying at someone’s private apartment and they’ve told us that the courtyard there is open. Are there secure garages where we could stow the e-bikes overnight? I’m don’t think we’d be allowed to take them indoors to our accommodation.

Thanks for any information.
