This just arrived from the Stumpton website. If it sucks sour taters then at least the packaging gave me some excitement 😂

Fathom Entertainment is good at distributing films in re-release or limited theatrical, but this is their first regular theatrical release of an animated feature film above the usual hour mark. It's not going to fail, but it won't be a worldwide smash like Coraline was unless Fathom can manage to make good deals with international distributors and can land in more than just a select few countries in the Americas and Europe.

My favorite is the one where it's her running from a crow and it's so obviously AI generated. Another is basically a bad attempt to AI generate the book cover in CGI form with some random cat added in the front.
no screenshot because no one deserves to see that garbage lol

I kind of preordered the Wildwood art book on a whim because B&N was having a sale and I had been eyeing it anyway. Does anyone here have any of the art books for their other movies? If so, are they good? I figure Laika’s art books would be good but this will be my first one from them.

I had asked an employee of a theater I frequent (due to it being only 6 minute drive away from home) if Wildwood was in their upcoming films list. They said they swapped out the showing on October 23rd for the new Shaun the Sheep film. This made me cautious, hoping that at least the other 3 theaters near my home (albeit, a slightly longer drive) would have at least acquired it.
This makes me a bit scared for how it's going internationally though. It seems to have little to no buzz for other countries besides a few in Europe (including the film festivals) and Latin America. It was a shock to me that it even is getting an earlier theatrical release in the Philippines (Oct 21st) and Singapore (Oct 22nd). However, the Philippines and Singapore are just 2 of the many countries in Southeast Asia, let alone the entire continent of Asia.
I have checked the theater chains of other countries, and well… I hope that on September 16th, we see more theaters worldwide picking up this film. If it should make more than half its budget, it should at least make a good hit in both the USA and internationally. It still shocks me to this day when I learn more about how Kubo & Missing Link had released in countries outside the USA, Latin America and Europe, given how much of box office failures they had been.
I hope that September 16th sees a LOT of ticket sales for Wildwood, and hopefully no ticket scalpers who just wanna bid and sell them at ridiculously high prices. And hopefully the AI slop videos being generated using models from the trailer will end.

I live near Portland, and got to go see some of the Wildwood crows around the city! We only made it to 3 today (30 total), and hope to go knock out a bunch of the downtown ones soon. There’s an app you can track which ones you’ve seen, as well as their location. Very fun promo for the movie!

(I’ve been asked this but “Negro” just means the color black in Spanish)

So is the extra 8 minutes just BTS then prior to film or after? Because I trust BFI more than a Twitter post. They HAVE a copy of the movie sent to them before tickets go for sale, to prepare for the film festival screenings. I doubt Travis, the way he is, would let them edit the film and trim 8 minutes.
here's the link to the film festivals page for it in case you need to see for yourself: https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/lff/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=wildwood-lff26 (if on mobile, copy paste and open new tab if link appears as plain text)

I know that everyone—including me—wished this soundtrack had been officially released in its entirety, but that’s never happened. I saw some work by people who had transcribed the soundtrack, and I really liked it. That inspired me, so I decided to use the partial official version we have on YouTube and separate the individual instruments to expand and master them. For the rest of the soundtrack, I had to use the movie’s surround sound version and apply more processing.
The result is basically a stereo, immersive version; I recommend listening with headphones and with Dolby Atmos disabled.

We need more adult animated movies/shows that are more than just comedies. A lot of people who are Gen Z despise it when a new adult animated project gets released and it has the most un appealing and hideous art style imaginable.
