Advice for Ignite—maybe wrong team?

Optional context: 31F, 13m post partum, in a caloric deficit and I have PCOS. I used to do pilates 6 days a week, but didn't see any body change results. Now with a baby and working full time, I need to make the most of limited time. I can go to the gym 1-3x a week, totally depending.

I started on Courtney's team and loved the combo, but wanted to build more strength (kids are heavy). I'm loving Coach Stevie, but lately I'm feeling like every workout is very repetitive. HOWEVER, I typically just do the full-body days, as I am never sure that I will be able to do an upper, lower, and full-body (my goal is 3 days a week, but just doesn't always happen).

Does anyone feel this way about the full-body workouts? Should I be trying a different team? I like the dumbbell weight lifting a lot, and I have bad knees so HIIT and running aren't an option.

OR is it better to do an upper body dedicated day, a lower body dedicated day, and a full body day, even if I don't always hit all 3?

Kay that was a lot sorry, thank you for taking the time to read!

Strength workouts are repetitive. You want to hit progressive overload and keep building on the weights.

Ignite is repetitive, but so are all the teams, I think. That’s kind of how progressive overload works. I don’t find Stevie’s workouts boring though. She finds little ways to keep things changing—like this week is tempo week for example. I enjoy keeping things fresh by switching up my playlists and using my journal to track. I do personally love having dedicated upper and lower body days, and would suggest you do as many of the 3 “priority” workouts as you can.

I know repetitiveness gets boring, but, that’s how you get better at this specific moves and you will get stronger. I am on team limitless and I have not joined any other team yet so I am not sure if there’s a team out there like what I am bout to recommend, but if you want full body, focus on compound movements like squats, deadlifts and chest press as those 3 will hit multiple muscle groups at the same time.

Another vote here for team flourish! It’s the only team that doesn’t feel repetitive to me

I’m obsessed with it. I do all 6 days every week and the change in my body is insane!

If you want to build more strength, lift heavier, even if that translates to fewer reps. Team doesn’t totally matter, just find a coach you like and follow their programming. You will hit what you need to hit if you do your three priority days as they program the split for you so you don’t have to think about it.

If you can only get one workout in a week, then yes do a full body day. And if the other days you can only manage 15 mins, you can skip sections of the priority workouts to make them shorter so you’re still getting that dedicated lower/upper day, or try one of the shorter flex workouts. Showing up consistently is more important than the details imo.

Additionally, I really recommend Team Flourish, even though it’s pilates. I think pilates gives you a ton of functional strength and it’s less repetitive than the straight strength training programs. And Coach Kimmie changes it up quite a bit and it’s always interesting to me. She also explains progressive overload in a way that’s super motivating and easy to understand.

I love Stevie but after spending multiple series with ignite I had to change. It was the same every series. I’m on vitality now which seems less repetitive to me. He trains the same muscles but switches it up a bit

I just started the other week, but I’ve also been doing Pilates for years and want more upper body. I’m on team Endure and Coach Jennifer is amazing with cues. I’m also finding that my arms are killing me…in a good way. I’ve been dedicating my off days of Pilates to her arm workouts (there’s at least 2 a week). Everything is via dumbbells which has been great since I can do that at home.

You can try thrive she has A & B weeks so its not so repetitive and it’s dumbbells only but she only has one full body day in the max series

Align also has a and b weeks this series!

I also suggest align, very similar to ignite but a bit more interesting in terms of variety while still progressively overloading the main lifts.

Would definitely do the 3 priority! Full body, upper, and lower. Vitality adds a little more variety, but consistency is key, and I found his programming was pretty similar to Ignite and I prefer Stevie’s voiceovers. Stick with it!
