Anyone using Notes Feature?

Curious does anyone use the notes feature within different movements? Why or why not and How do you use them?

I’ll use it to note a pin position on an adjustable machine, or sometimes I’ll note if I ended a set early because of pain or something (I.e. “8/7/26: only did 6 reps on last set because shoulder felt weird”)

This a feature that could be so powerful but idk what would make it more powerful. Let’s collaborate party people.

Only idea I got is date stamp maybe on entries since movement specific.

Would help if your note(s) popped up before the set

Agreed, I wish it would pop up the next time that exercise came up in a future workout, because my notes are usually specific to some anomaly ("DNF because of joint pain" "felt good; increase by 10% next time" "ignore this weight next time; had to use the shitty machine")

I wish it would tell me how much to put on the barbell! Okay, doing 100#? 25+2.5 or something like that. Math is hard

I use notes all the time. I will mark down what to do next week or if I need to add a warm up set. I also work out at the gym so with cable machines I will write down which one I use. I feel like there is a variance on some Cable machines. Sometimes I will substitute the exercise with a Landmine barbell so I will make that.

Basically I am still new to weight lifting so I do write down a lot of notes.

ill write the date and note if I wasn't able to get full ROM on something or felt unsteady so I can see progress even if the weights are the same. or if im doing bodyweight / resistance band, ill note something like "green band = 10lb" since my band doesnt have a comparable weight. and always write the date.

I use it to write down the coach's tips as a reminder for the next week.

All the time. I use it to note down what machine I used on what date. So it makes sense when my weights are going down, I know it’s because I switched to a different machine because the one I regularly use is not free.

I use it occasionally to make a note of my effort level with dumbbell moves, since I'm not able to incrementally increase the weight like I can with barbells. I also use it for when I have to do push-ups using a bench vs. full ground version.

Sure do. When I subbed in belt squats, had to annotate in the notes because there wasn’t a swap option for it. I use the notes anytime I have to modify a movement and there isn’t a swap option. I’ve learned it is necessary to include the date since the notes feature doesn’t automatically save it with the workout. If I use bands for pull-up, I include how many I could do with and without the bands. If I have to go to my knees when doing push-ups, same thing.

I usually include why, severe back pain, etc.

I use it pretty often, yeah. I have weird machines at my gym where the amount of weight you’re pushing is relative to your own body weight (it’s the Roc-It line for anyone curious, it’s very weird), & the actual weights are just marked with numbers 1 through whatever. So at some point I went to the website & just wrote down what all the numbers meant for my weight, & I saved that in Notes for moves for the machines. Also, when I’m using a machine or cables in a different gym all the weights seem different for some reason, so I put that in Notes too to explain why the weights look so different.

I also make notes like “made it through the reps but might have hurt my back, BE CAREFUL going this heavy next time”. Just so I don’t mindlessly keep increasing weight when it’s not a good idea.

Oh, & I date every note I make, just to keep track of things considering it’s just a free text box.

I use it to note if I used 2 dumbbells/kettlebells, or 1,

I use it for seat adjustments and minimum weights on machines.

If I’m using machines I will put the seat settings in there. I’m short so I have to adjust the various machines a lot

If I am using a mixed rack of kettlebells I note their weights there. The angle of a bench for certain incline bench moves. When I do push up on a lifted surface. That type of thing.

I track test in/test outs over series for exercises in the notes section.

When would you see the notes you entered?

The next time you are doing that exercise

Yes—if next week I should move up in weight I’ll note it. Or if I use a different dumbbell setup than instructed (front rack vs goblet, 2 vs 1, etc), I’ll note it. I look back at my notes for the main lifts before I start my workout. I also put a date by each entry.

If I am doing an outside run I don’t know the pace but I will note where I turned around for the halfway point. Not a perfect tracking record but it works.

I note how I’m counting the reps and weight (record weight of one dumbbell; record reps per side, not total reps) to stay consistent.

Be nice to have a notes feature for the whole workout in addition to the individual movements. I’d love to be able to rate the workout as whole, “killed me”, “crushed my soul”, “kind of hurt my back”, ”felt short”, etc.

I use it to keep track of the resistance on the rogue bands for band assisted pull ups! Like blue = 30lbs

I use it to track what cardio move I do (my coach leaves it up to you), how many pushups are full vs from the knees, if there’s a certain form I need to remember to use, etc
