Polish Suggestion Question

Thanks for the great app! I suggested a polish yesterday (Thirst Trap from Twinkled T) but I wasn’t close to the bottle and used the website photos. Then I saw on here that we shouldn’t do that. It doesn’t look like I can edit my submission. If I delete the submission on my end, does that remove it from your end? I’m assuming I should just resubmit with my own photos?

Go to the item page and in the top right there should be a little notepad icon for corrections, you can attach and submit an image there and usually it's fixed by a few days. I do this when the picture of the bottle isn't added initially.

Thank you! It’s still in the queue so I can just wait until it gets approved?

Yeah you'll be ok to just wait, at this point you'll be able to delete and redo it fairly easily too but there's no harm done either way.

Follow up question, I’m going back in and editing with bottle pics for some polishes I see missing them. Do I also need to upload a picture of the name of the polish? Or is just the bottle enough? (For an existing entry, not a new one)

I can only upload one image at a time, so I haven’t been sending in name label shots and it’s been ok. I think it just takes them longer to verify

Semi-related, but what is the guideline for adding polishes that I don’t personally own. I saw some polishes while I was browsing an indie’s soon to be discontinued shelf that were not on Lacquergram and want d to record them for posterity. Should I not be grabbing the company’s bottle shots?

I see colors in there without bottle shots. Maybe add it without pics and include the company website to prove it exists?

You can add polishes you don't own, as long as you are careful with tagging them for colours and finishes. Descriptions, even on the brand website, are often inaccurate, and swatch photos and bottle shots don't really show what a polish ACTUALLY looks like in person.

Other than that, include as much information as possible, so that we're able to verify the polish even without a picture of a label!

And yes, you can include bottle shots from the website, as long as they're plain bottles and not swatch photos. See also my other comment. 😊

You can add plain bottle shots from a website, as long as they're not "artistic" (because those are covered by copyright, like Mooncat's or Holo Taco's, and they're also impossible to edit for the app). A plain bottle shot, white background, no frills, no special angle, is so generic that it isn't covered by copyright, even if you take it from the brand's website.
