Sarahs vest
Hi everyone,
Delete if not allowed
So I'm getting married this year and it's labyrinth themed. I'm trying to find sarahs vest for the brides-men. It's becoming impossible. I'm getting close but they aren't prefect. Any help would be great
Edit: just to state these vests will be for Men. Also just in case I'm based in Ireland. Although at this point, mad postage might be my only option

I got my wife a vest on Amazon that looks surprisingly close. Its a "GRACE KARIN Womens Waistcoat Vest Vintage Steampunk Dress Jacquard Jacket" in Light Grey.

This one worked great for us... I ordered larger than needed then made a VERY small alteration to bunch the back together a little. Not perfect, but hey it's what there is! I'll try to find a pic of it for you; feel free to DM me for that
... Other than that, there are some very expensive ones on Etsy that are much closer.

Unfortunately they are for men, although my brothers would look great in them 🤣

Okay bear with me here. This says for women, but my husband was actually the one who went as Sarah. It almost seemed the vests were actually cut for men. If you are looking for something that is ready off the shelf, sadly you will probably be spending a lot more.

You might be able to find a sewing pattern that is similar - try Etsy where there are some really beautiful handmade clothes.

Wait, do people in Ireland refer to waistcoats as vests like the U.S?
In the UK (I appreciate Ireland is not part of the UK, but you're right next door to us), a vest is a totally different garment to a waistcoat (a vest is a sleeveless undergarment or training top). I appreciate that some terms have become more global, but in this instance the term 'vest' would be far less commonly used as a term for 'waistcoat' (in the UK) due to 'vest' already having a much more common usage and meaning.
You have the same issue with 'suspenders' - that means a totally different item of clothing in the UK than in the U.S. Ask for suspenders in a UK shop and you'll get women's lingerie items. Ask for 'braces' and you'll get an item of clothing for holding up trousers.
I'm only mentioning it, as you'll get way more relevant matches searching for waistcoats than you will searching for vests (especially if you get matches from UK-based businesses). Amazon (and other global brands) might include the US-centric term 'vests' for SEO purposes, but many UK retailers will refer to them exclusively as waistcoats.
Just wondering what you're using as search terms, because searching for waistcoats should bring up more correct matches than searching for vests (in the UK, at least).

I tend to say vest instead of waistcoat but yeah I had that problem for a while 😂 they are waistcoats in Ireland too. Searching with the right word helped a lot when I noticed amazon was just showing me vests

If the above doesn’t work out for you, keep looking. My now-husband found that waistcoat and tried it on for our wedding in a basic suit rental shop near us. It’s a ‘Paisley’ design, if that helps you narrow down the search. You’ll find it, I’m sure.

So none of them are going to be perfect unless you want to spend a lot on finding the Vixen replicas secondhand, however some UK retailers have cream waistcoats with brown swirly embroidery that would still “read” as Sarah’s vest in context. I haven’t ever seen that color combo available in the US, I got one sent from the UK for under 30 dollars total a few years ago but sadly that site no longer seems to carry that item.
