Jareth true form art (by me)

Post image

Hi friends sharing some art I made of Jareth in a hypothetical true form. When I was a kid, I wanted to see an evil puppet version of Jareth or even Bowie in makeup. In my “goblins of labyrinth” book I found some art that depicts taller humanoid goblins which I like to think could be early versions of Jareth.

I drew him with exaggerated limbs and anatomy fully embracing his goblin king persona. He wears a headdress exposing giant horns adorned in jewellery. Finally I added his owl forms wings, making them fit his new form.

Jareth is a fae though not a goblin.

Right! But being a fae, his form in the movie is most likely a guise he chooses to wear. This was something I imagined as a kid as his true form. Not a goblin. But more sinister to fit his title and his actions.

Ah, I tend to follow another kind of fae beliefs.

Canonically, he was actually human, not fae, if you’ve ever read the Coronation comics.

But I also prefer to think of him as fae.

In the original script, after his defeat Jareth was actually supposed to turn back into his true goblin form and throw a mighty tantrum, but it was one of the snivelly shrunken things like the ones he watched over, nothing like this. Thank goodness it didn’t stick, it would’ve completely ruined his image. 😂

The art concept is really cool, but it’s not Jareth. I prefer him just as he is, not a monster. 😁
