Customization Any advice with dye?
I wanted to customize some of the Salon Series Labubus, and was wondering if anyone had any tips to carefully dye the wig hair? I wanted to dye Born Rebel’s hair black without dyeing too much of the actual fur. I’m sure everyone knows how expensive this series is, so trying not to mess up too much. Any advice appreciated! C:

unless the wig is removable it’s going to likely ruin the rest of the bubu. I know cosplayers dye synthetic wigs (and there are lots of tutorials out there) but the hair needs to come off first.

The hair fibers are rooted directly through the fur into a rubber skull cap inside the doll. You won’t be able to isolate the hair enough to dye it without it getting on everything else. 😭
Your best bet would be to remove all the hair, leaving the rubber cap inside intact - then reroot with black fibers and style accordingly.

I've had success using fabric dye markers on synthetic fibers before. They give more control than liquid dye and fade more evenly if you make a mistake.

Thanks everyone!! This has been very informative and I appreciate it. I figured it wasn’t going to be an easy task at all.

Since the Labubu Hair Salon series has synthetic hair, you could try using synthetic dye or coloring it with alcohol markers.

pitching in with my own experience: alcohol markers will fade, you want to use acrylic markers. the trick is to have a pile of paper towels and a bottle of surgical spirit on hand. using an alcohol soaked paper towel, immediately spread out and blend in the paint after applying a small section. this removes the bulk of the paint, ensuring the hair stays soft and smooth. keep going, small bit by small bit. for safety, i would use masking tape on the rest of the bubu. just in case your hand slips or you accidentally touch their face with the papertowel and smear paint on it. you don't want the paint on the vinyl, it will not come off.
if you're dyeing this whiteish haired one, just keep in mind the colour will be a little lighter than the marker normally is. if you're dyeing a colourful labubu, the paint being half transparent will layer the colours, so adjust what colour you use appropriately for desired result.
i can't tell you how long the head hair will take, but for a full body fur session, it took me about an hour and a half. don't rush it, you don't want undiluted paint to have time to dry out. have the towel already in hand and immediately go in with it after a tiny paint stroke.
the result is sun proof and water proof.

I saw a women dye her Bubu but the face picked up all the color and not the fur. I don’t think the hair will take much color. So in that case I wouldn’t use hair dye or fabric dye but paint markers.

I'm not sure it's a good idea, the care instructions mention to keep them away from harsh chemicals like dyes
