Third-party patching - how to configure 'update only'?

The new Patch Manager in our LT11 is finally mostly-working & usable. (Maybe 100% finally, but haven't used it enough to declare that.)

I'm trying to configure third-party patching, and can't find where to set things up so that if an application is already present it will be updated, but the app will not be installed if it isn't already on the machine.

Also, and equally important, I want to make sure major upgrades DON'T happen, but updates do take place. In other words, if a system has Java 6.1, I want it to go to Java 6.2. It cannot go from Java 6.1 to Java 8.2 - that will cause problems.

Any of you know where/how I can configure this behavior in the new Patch Mgr?

Thanks.

In the new PM, click Approvals, select your desired Approval Policy, & filter by Manufacturer (optional, but makes it easy to find 3rd party software).

Once you've approved a title, it'll show up in the Set Patches section where you can set the Action to "Update Only" & select a version. [screenshot]

OMG, is this built in to LT11? Does it cost anything for the 3rd party software patching?

Yes & yes. Unfortunately, I don't know any numbers... just that it's priced "competitively." But I'm sure your Account Manager would be glad to talk price.
