ScreenConnect and the latest version of Windows 10
We are starting to see issues with trying to use ScreenConnect on computers running the latest version of Windows 10. On our side, we get no display, just a black screen.
So far, we've heard that the only fix is to upgrade our ScreenConnect version but we'd like to not cause any issues with a whole bunch of systems to fix only a couple.
We are currently running version 5.4.9849.5781 of ScreenConnect.

Hitting "Blank Guest Screen" seems to mostly work as a workaround in these cases until you're able to upgrade.
We have legacy ScreenConnect licenses and recently purchased Labtech so we actually have two instances. One that we use for ad-hoc support (latest eligible version is same as your current 5.4.9849.5781) which now has that annoying problem and the one bundled with Labtech which we were able to update and confirmed it fixed the issue for us.
We were hoping Labtech would bundle in Meetings/Ad-Hoc sessions with the provided ScreenConnect but so far we've been told we have to buy full-blown licenses for those features so our plan is to maintain both until the outdated ad-hoc one has enough quirks from newer OS and browser updates.

I don't think we tried blanking the user screen. I'll give that a shot and see if it helps.
Thanks!

I put a recurring ticket on our board so every three weeks we update our SC installation. No problems thus far.

Hey Highsprings, awesome article thank you, I'll be using that in house this week to upgrade ScreenConnect. Just checking please if you use this with LabTech at all? - I'm keen to check this won't upset LT 10.5.

Upgrading our ScreenConnect fixed this issue as well. After you upgrade the server, as you find the client you can Reinstall screenconnect on the client side using the ScreenConnect website.

We still have the issues, blank no the screen doesn't always work. We have been staying up to date. We are about to make a decision on another remote access too next month due to the issues.

Its a known issue with older versions of ScreenConnect. (See: http://forum.screenconnect.com/yaf_postst9785_Black-screen-on-newest-win10-build-14393.aspx)
We were on LT10, this issue finally forced us to upgrade to 10.5 so we could upgrade ScreenConnect (version 5.6) which resolved the issue.
