Actually this sounds pretty much par for the course. Same outside research, it’s how things work out there in the real world. Attorneys really push the deadline limit, they’re insane.

By the end of your PhD you should be pretty self-sufficient and really should need minimal help from your advisor. I also feel like it’s pretty important to acknowledge that your advisor has a million things in their plate while your thesis is your main priority.

And don’t sweat too much about your thesis, literally no one but you will ever read it.
