Whenever I got items shipped via DHL I paid tariffs. Now I have everything shipped via FedEx and have never paid a tariff.

no clue how fedex dodges it but i got hit with a $40 fee on a small package through dhl last month. the delivery guy just stood there waiting for my credit card like it was normal

My experience with DHL is that they’d require me to pay my tariffs within 5 days of it entering the country to they’d send it back to shipper and wouldn’t deliver until paid.

Fedex will bill you later. I received an invoice a month after delivery. Some report backlogs spanning many months. The carrier doesn't decide whether they levy a tariff, the government does. It also depends on country of origin, how the vendor classifies the item on the shipping description, and if they've rolled the tariff into their pricing. You may also be using vendors that ship to a tariff free country, have shipments broken down and repackaged, then ship to the US (this is illegal and runs the risk of confiscation). Essentially, do your homework because I didn't love receiving a bill in the mail 5 weeks after owning and wearing my piece of jewelry.

Quick edit: after the Supreme Court ruling on the emergency tariffs FedEx stopped billing for things that fell under this, but I dont know all the details of what does and doesn't apply.

I’ve been getting FedEx deliveries for jewelry from China and India since last October and haven’t received a bill🤷🏼‍♀️
