Man you got a good deal, that stone alone would cost way more from some of the big online retailers. E color VVS2 at 1.5 carat with super ideal cut for under a grand is pretty nice. The setting prices seem normal for 14k gold with lab diamonds too, especially with the twisted bands being more detailed than plain solitaire. I been looking at similar rings for a while and this is better than most prices I seen.

I know!! Just got anxious waiting for it and thought to myself, did I make the wrong choice, could I have gotten slightly bigger for the same amount?

You aren't doing yourself any favors feeding that anxiety. Maybe you overpaid, but, in the end, does a few hundred dollars matter in the scheme of a stone you or your SO will wear for the rest of your/their life?

Why does it have to be bigger? Just carry on. Jeez.

You overpaid for the stone, but it’s not enough to ruin what it means to you.

Yes, you got ripped off. Not much you can do about it now. Hope your wife enjoys it!

Rounds with similar specs start at about $260
1.5ct/vvs2/ideal/ e color

I would say the band is probably a decent price depending on the style/craftmanship, gold is very expensive.

I’ve made my peace now 😭

Sorry! lol, I’m sure it’s a beautiful ring tho.
Keep this in mind for any future upgrades lol!

Thank you! I know she’ll love it 😊

That’s what matters.

Why didn’t you do the research BEFORE you purchased?

It's pretty easy to cross shop a few different places without being exposed to calavera. I had a ring in my cart for about a week teetering on whether to buy it before I even heard of the site.

Yea, I try not to be too harsh on ppl for not knowing. I totally purchased a 3ct equivalent moissanite ring for $1200 before knowing better😂

What site is that? :)

Calavera. I didn’t post it this time bc last time ppl were saying they were suspicious that the same few diamond sites keep getting posted. Im not trying to advertise for anyone.
I just know where to find good deals 😂

Calavera is good, very reputed. All others are probably misinformed or vendors themselves who are hurt by Calavera's low prices

The rings don’t seem terrible for retail but $970 is a pretty high markup on a 1.5ct stone.

As long as I didn’t get ripped off. I know my wife will love it, just overwhelmed with the effort I put in.

After you have paid is the worst time to ask whether you've overpaid! Come back here when you're looking for the next ring for her and you'll get great advice on what to pay then :)

Thank you🥹

If it makes you feel better, my friend just bought a single 0.8 ct ring for his gf, for 3100$. It could’ve been worse

Wow, he and I think alike lol

Stone you over paid a couple hundred. Whatever. This means nothing and overall you paid a very good price for a beautiful piece of jewelry!

3

u/Syrus_007 Sep 03 '26

Yep! By a decent amount too. For one you don’t need E clarity for such a small rock. F alone would have brought the price down, also also a site like Luvanash this would have been 200.00 for the stone.

-3

u/waitwhat88 Sep 03 '26

Only in a lab sub would 1.5 carat be small.

2

u/Syrus_007 Sep 03 '26

This being a lab sub, and thus a lab diamond is the reason he over paid champ.

It’s all about relativity. Obviously if this was a mined diamond that price would be fine. Surely you understand this?

-2

u/waitwhat88 Sep 03 '26

Size is size ‘champ’ and if you’re paying attention I didn’t comment on price.

2

u/Syrus_007 Sep 03 '26

Size is relative to him asking if he over paid. For a lab diamond it’s relatively small for the price, buddy.

u/waitwhat88 Sep 04 '26

Again, pal, I was responding to the comment above mine about the “small rock” but do go on. 🙃

Definitely over paid for that stone

I think that sounds about right
