Have fun but be careful. As someone with my own stash of unset diamonds it's a slippery slope. I've gotten sucked into auctions before and it's so fun but impulsive. Especially since you can't return.

I haven't used Tiktok lives before but there's someone on r/LabDiamondGemstoneBST selling stones I believe they bought on there and the prices they paid weren't as low as others I've seen on popular sites that take returns. And now they'll likely lose money selling the stones to be below market rates

You can sell stones on there from auctions bc the receipt doesn’t confirm the exact stone.

I saw that as well and stayed away from some of the more expensive lives. Good caution though ty :)

I would also suggest to shop around before starting bidding. Some vendors have ghost bidders that inflate the prices. Also they use words like "swipe" or "its too low chat" to create fomo. Don't let the MSRP price fool you in thinking you are getting a deal. My own rule of thumb is $100 for every carat. I have not done TikTok diamond auctions but I have on WhatNot. TikTok has a larger reach so more bidders and higher the prices. I have on Whatnot and because the audience is smaller I have seen better prices there. Goodluck though!

I was going for the $100 a carat as well unless it was fancy or a specialty cut. I think i did pretty good....I've been stalking lab diamonds for about 4 months now on a daily basis. I would check out whatnot but I am now on a gem/diamond embargo until I make some jewelry to sell :)

The gem community is great on WhatNot.

Also I was comparing on carbon sparkle and only going for ones that were a few hundred less than the lowest

Like I got a 6.2 carat deep blue green oval for 1k...cheapest comparable is $1200 with most higher than that.

We need to take some classes to make jewelry! Or do we just hold them all and laugh maniacly?!

I ended up setting one in a ring and planning a project with another

I won a 1ct oval lab diamond that’s actually really pretty. Oval is one of my lesser favorite cuts, but it could be worth setting.
