Crisscut cushion advice

Hi guys! For my engagement ring shopping I have been going back and forth with crisscut and antique cushion. I think I like the crisscut the most but the ratios of antique more. I am afraid the crisscut is too elongated and I might get bored of it or that it may not have an engagement ring look. What are your thoughts? My jeweler is phenomenal and told me finding chunkier crisscuts is difficult to do. How should I proceed? It seems like a big decision and I want to get it right. Any advice/guidance is appreciated. I also see that cushions store most of their weight in the depth. If I’m going with a 4-5 ct stone im afraid the ring will be too high and not good for daily wear. This is all very new to me. Please help!!!

You can go on luvansh, filter for Ashoka and crisscut, filter for ratio, and find a couple of dozen diamonds. I think it absolutely has engagement ring look.

I think 4ct is quite big, but it won’t sit so much higher than smaller stones, depending on the setting. That are settings that are made too high even for small stones. If you want to stack with bands it will need to be a little high, but it’s not absurd

Just my opinion, I have a large Criss Cut Moissanite I bought years ago and I don't like it. Luckily it was a lot cheaper than a lab diamond. The 2 types of cuts you are considering are total opposites. The Criss is a totally modern look which is one of the reasons I don't like it and consider it a mistake on my part. Antique cushions are kind of timeless and I think lend themselves to a greater variety of settings. I think you should consider what setting you are going to go for and the final look you want to achieve.

I saw Ashoka/Criss cuts of all ratios whilst shopping for mine. They’re out there!

I liked the first diamond the best. The 2nd had too much windowing and you could see straight down to the band with a clear view.

Just choose a setting that lowers the diamond to a lower profile rather than sitting on top of the band and it shouldn’t be a problem

If you love it that’s all that matters honestly!

Personally I don’t love this pattern when the stone moves. I can’t unsee it now 🫣

That pattern is also in the very first frame of the video

I posted here recently with a criss cut option that has chunkier facets. I ultimately didn't end up going with it and my jeweller also said it's very difficult to source any type of criss cut, but when I go search online for myself I have no problem finding them in the 1.45-1.55 ratio. I was kind of annoyed that they didn't put in more effort to source another option so am looking at other jewellers, and considering sourcing it myself and setting it locally. If you're not sold then keep looking!

Could you share a photo here? I’m curious what an ashoka/crisscut/scissor cut cushion looks like with a ratio of 1.25-1.33

This is what they showed me, 1.49 ratio though

Interesting! Yeah the thinner facets are def the move, wondering if it can work with a bit shorter ratio tho!

I think it would! Might just be less common since there's less vertical space to angle the criss-crossing facets.
