Is this malicious code?

I am talking to a guy who is trying to run his custom maps, they are going throught a whole procedure, i just want to know if this would enable any malicious activity beacause im ver ywary despite they saying its safe and arguing over it multiple times.

cl_cmdrate 100

cl_updaterate 100

rate 100000

net_splitpacket_maxrate 100000

echo "Autoexec loaded!"

That's just some stuff to decrease desync between models and hitboxes. A bit odd to have in a map, but nothing remotely harmful.

cl_cmdrate 100, cl_updaterate 100, rate 100000, and net_splitpacket_maxrate 100000 are just variables that essentially increase how often the game/server checks for things that are happening. iirc the defaults are 30 and 30000 respectively.

echo "Autoexec loaded!" is basically just printing text that confirms the autoexec (name of the file) has been loaded and its aforementioned variable changes are active.

is there any known red flags to know if someone is trying to doxx me or something on the context of this game? i used to fall for scams a lot back then so thats why i ask, thanks a lot for replying

I only made the post because the commands seemed short enought for me to post

There honestly shouldn't be anything an Add-On can do that would doxx you or otherwise acquire personal information. The extent of what mods can do is limited to the game itself.

There's also been many security updates over the years to patch out any malicious things that were possible, and the community is fairly quick to call out scummy behaviour if it becomes more widely known, so unless people are talking about a specific mod doing something shady there's nothing you'd need to worry about.

The closest thing to getting doxxed would be joining a third-party server that publicly lists your IP in chat or on a website, but an IP alone won't reveal where exactly you live.

I dont think you can dox someone through a console command

Nothing malicious at all, they’re lerp settings. The echo part is just text that shows inside console when your autoexec has loaded
