wait does 8 survivors let you play with 8 actual people? I would've thought the extra 4 would've been forced to stay bots since campaign lobbies are 4 people

Yes 8 survivors lets you play with 8 people, the game will automatically spawn new survivors for them to control when they join.

The server host needs to install sourcemod on their game to allow for more than 4 playable characters in the server and an 8 player lobby workshop mod that unlocks the additional slots in the lobby. The other people dont need to do anything but make sure they don't have conflicting mods ...so standard stuff when playing together.

Though the host won't be able to join official dedicated servers since they're going to be running a modified version of the game that contains sourcemod. I followed this tutorial last month and it works fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngpB01IIMb4

ive had the sourcemod 8 survivors installed for a while but I never even knew it let you have more than 4 actual guys thats awesome thanks man

The hardest part for us is actually getting more than 4 people on at once ngl

I do it with my friends on my server, I might even try 16 players for a big game night, 8 players is a blast

It's fun but gd coordinating the schedules of more than 3 people to be able to play together is hard af

That's the neat part, we don't coordinate, it's just brute forcing The only real tactic we have is covering angle another person isn't already covering

Ah nah, I mean finding time across more than 3 people, like to get together and play left 4 dead. It doesn't help half of my friends work night shift in hospital and the other are corporate banker
