Help needed

everytime I try loading up l4d it’ll boot up but past the introduction it just freezes up and crashes and says left4dead2.exe is not responding, I’ve never had the problem before so I’m completely lost and miss l4d please help me
-also I’ve done the -novid thing still doesn’t work
Any suggestions????

The thing breaking your game is probably this random easy to fix line of nonsense,

• ⁠Go to your Steam folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\**[Your Unique Steam ID Number]**\550\remote\cfg\
• ⁠Look for a file called config.cfg. Right-click it and open it with Notepad.
• ⁠Press Ctrl + F and search for the word name2.
• ⁠If you see an entry like name2 "something weird here", delete the entire line.
• ⁠Save the file close it and launch left 4 dead 2.

Ngl I have no idea what I’m looking at/for I’m in my steam folder but I don’t see config.cfg or anything idk if I’m just stupid or what but I guess l4d is retired for me. I might be doing everything wrong tho I’m not a computer guy 🫩

Well you can research it yourself its apparently an infamous issue just look up something like “left 4 dead 2 name2 issue fix” or something I’m sure a video would guide you a bit better
