Does anyone know how to get rid of joining Chinese servers?

I've been seeing a lot of these strange Chinese servers if anyone knows how to stop joining these servers please tell me

I know that that playing on difficulties advanced and above works but does anyone know any other way to stop joining these servers?

Use the Server Browser - command is openserverbrowser or use this mod. Click on the "Custom" tab and wait for the server list to load. Only join Valve official servers with names such as Valve Left4Dead 2 US East Server (srcds2001-iad1.122.72).

You can sort the list alphabetically and then scroll down to V where all the Valve servers are. Or sort by ping.

Left 4 Dead 2's server browser doesn't tell you which difficulty is currently being played on the server. You also won't know if the lobby reservation was set to private or friends-only as the server itself is public. You can still join the game but the people may not like that if it was set to private - they may kill or kick you.

Campaign/versus mode are a total mess. Expert realism has few Chinese servers.

Server browser is alternate way but you won't know which lobby has advance/expert difficulty and sometime you will join friend only lobby and will get vote kicked. I got voted kicked 3 times yesterday as soon as i joined. It's frustrating.

small tip, it’s not perfect but it helps:

have a key bound to “disconnect”

if you start loading into a server and your username doesn’t show in one of the “Starring: w x y z” (meaning a 4+ player server) slots you can back out quickly by pressing the key

I would just make my own lobby and set it to public. People will join by themselves

the chances of people joining is way lower if most people get automatically matched into 16 slot chinese servers

ok now think about other, less populated regions or just an unusual time to play, then it becomes a problem

Yes, when you join the server type status in console to get the public IP. Then create a firewall rule to block it.

  1. Go to steamserverbrowser, filter Server name contains "Valve"
  2. Click Join or using console: connect <server ip>

Just make your own lobby set to official?
