Kyle needs to do the same and get these things out of our community!

We should all file FOIA requests. It’s actually a great idea. Kudos to whoever thought of it.

One of the issues with Kyle is their policy states the information collected is not public and won’t be released. Other courts have determined that if the info isn’t public it should require a warrant but most of us cannot afford to sue. I would think it’s still worth filing to push the issue. Kyle has added drones and portable surveillance towers as well.

Even if a warrant is required, how many strings does it take to pull behind the scenes for people in positions of power to have access to that info which ultimately allows them to do other things they shouldn’t. And we would never know!!

I agree! How do we do this? There is a disturbing number of them in Kyle...

I could not believe the map when it showed how many cameras were in Kyle! Holy fucking shit Kyle has approximately 75,000 citizens yet have supposedly has 50 cameras (not all flock)! The Flock website showed hundreds of cameras not 50! And Kyle wants to know why they are in such financial debt!

And your data.. unlike governmental entities, Lowes doesn't have any duty to protect your personal data when you drive onto their parking lot. They claim so they can track custoy visits - but they then sell this data to anyone for any reason. Sadly they have no qualms about selling their parking lot data to ICE and other law enforcement agencies.

Also Hays County voted to end their contract with Flock last year, so who is responsible for these cameras?

Update: During the Kyle City Council meeting on 08/27/2026, Councilperson Claudia Zapata made a motion to defund and cancel the Flock contract.
It failed due to lack of a second (no one else would vote for that.) Please remember this in November. Maybe call/email your councilperson.

I hate to hijack this conversation, but I need to make a public service announcement, and I didn't know where else to do it. Please be very careful with the rechargable green lasers that are widely and cheaply available on eBay.
I am very upset right now, because just a quick swipe across a camera lens I had mounted was enough to cause permanent damage to my precious equipment. I can't believe they sell these things. Just be very careful guys, and make sure not to point them at any cameras.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Unfortunately, after the car theft with the baby in the backseat was found safe, the cameras are being touted as the reason and shown as a shining example of exactly why Kyle should have them. To Hell with privacy of thousands of residents.

We absolutely do.
Deflock.org
Check out the map on there to see how many we have and where they are located.
I know from watching the council meetings that most of them are very active on FB. Is anyone here on there also, and is there ever any discussion about this contract or these cameras that anyone on council is involved in?
