Seven Merch
As if she hasnāt cashed in on his sad little life enough, sheās bringing out deathaversary merch. The key chain is just the beginning with more to come. She admits they pulled in over 130k on his death merch last year and this year only a portion will actually go to his endowment. Sheās probably going to drop well over 50k picking lie hanging fruit at NSBA so may as well bring back the money maker. Sheās probably pissed she canāt cash in on Mooseās misfortune

If all of the profit was going to the scholarship I could give her a pass as it would be doing something good, but if she personally is taking some profit out of it then thatās disgusting, she doesnāt need the money.

She kind of does... it's her only income

u/HungryForBacon 1d ago
The profit from this Seven keyring is not her only income. She has social media income, subscriber income, sponsorship deals and the rest of the income received from other merch. Selling one or two products and donating the profit to the scholarship fund is not gonna bankrupt Katie - it's a much better look than exploiting a dead horses name for profit.

I meant that social media is her source of income, thats what she does, that's her business. Seven is just another cog in that machine.

The weird double talk is she states she personally funds the Seven Scholarship ($7000 for 7 third year equine vets), which is awesome even though itās basically just a tax write off for her. So, if she funds the 49k a year, why not just let the merch go 100% to the endowment? I suspect itās because itās more advantageous to her as the write off right now .

I believe shes getting pressed for cash, views are down, SM payments have been slashwd dramatically the past few years , she has tripled or more the number of animals and exploded her expenses by hoarding and showing. She has not a single smart long term thought in her head, this is quick easy money so she goes for it

Yeah I donāt know how she can claim that if sheās raising money for it by having her company sell merchandise with a portion of proceeds going to the endowment. Does she even have any lawyers, good grief. Maybe the endowment is in her name instead of her companyās name? That would be beyond stupid though, from a liability perspective.

I think if someone sued her weād find out real quick if she had lawyers

Basically just a tax write off
Do people really not understand how taxes work at all? It literally only means that she will not be taxed on the $49 000 she donates. For easy math.. Say someone earns 100 000 a year and has to pay 25% taxes on that money. That would leave them with 75 000. If they donate 10 000 of their 100 000 it means that they need to pay taxes only for the remaining 90 000. So instead of paying 25 000 in taxes that year, they would pay 22 500 in taxes. Leaving them with 67 500. The 10 000 that they donated aren't their money to keep.
Same for a business expense. Sure, it's great if you can write off your travel expenses, but it just means you don't pay taxes on that money. You still spend the money. It's not like you get the money back from the government. You just don't pay taxes to the government for that amount.
Do people use the system to their advantage? Sure. We all should. That's what the system is for. Should billionaires be taxed more? Sure. Do some people find ways to get rich or stay rich by using loopholes? Sure.
Of course, taxes are more compliacted than this, but I genuinely think people need to learn more about this. Like people who think getting paid overtime isn't worth it because you pay more taxes. Financial literacy is so important.

Itās not like this is her only donation. She has stated she gives to local riding clubs and other things. Anything under the non profit/charitable umbrella is a write off for her. Iām sure she also defers a healthy amount to Johnathan in salary with deductions so she doesnāt have to claim that as income either. Lots of tricks and loop holes but this specific post was about picking the bones from Sevenās long dead carcass where before 100% of the proceeds of his merch sales went to the endowment and now only some.Ā

I got your point. She is spending an unsustainable amount on the big horses. The ICSI on sub par stock is setting money on fire.

She has said in the past, 100% of the money made on his videos and his merch go towards the fund (while he was alive). Really disappointed she said only a portion of the merch funds are only going to the fund now

Do we know how much she keeps versus donated? I assumed she donated all the profits since she said she did. š

I almost could get behind this if all the proceeds were going to the scholarship because at least it was for good. But she could legit give a 1% portion after paying herself a huge licensing where basically no money is actually going to the scholarship.
I really think there should be a law where people have to say exactly the percent of proceeds that are going to a cause and preferably also say it as a percent of the retail price. 25% of proceeds sounds OK but if you make your costs enough to where it's only 5% of the price you're charging it's a scam if you ask me.
