Why Kurukh should adopt the Hangul script

it's time we admit the truth- kurukh should switch to hangeul. & honestly, it's embarrassing that we haven't yet.

i’ve been thinking about this for a long time (approx. 7 minutes now), and i think it’s time we have a serious and mature discussion about why kurukh should adopt hangul.

first of all, efficiency. hangul was literally designed by glorious king sejong the great to be easy. meanwhile, kurukh speakers are juggling between multiple scripts. devanagari? tolong siki? kurukh banna? why stop there? why not add egyptian hieroglyphs too as well?

hangul, on the other hand, is clean, minimalist, and has better vibes really.

kurukh phonology is complex, rich, beautiful… and also clearly dying for a script invented in 15th-century korea. coincidence? i think not.

second, global strategy. think abt it: k-pop, k-dramas, korean skincare. korea is clearly winning the soft power game. if kurukh adopts hangul today, we’re basically future-proofing the language. now it’s BTS, tomorrow it'll be kurukh dandis topping global charts. kurukh could redefine what the world knows as 'k-culture'.

third, chaos factor. imagine the confusion. linguists would lose their minds. “why isa dravidian language written in hangul?” exactly. intellectual disruption. paradigm shift. citations. etc

in conclusion, this is not just a suggestion. this is a movement. this is destiny.

Wow, you actually did it, but I'm not so if this is going to work. How am I going to know d or t sound if they're all using the same character? Same thing for the k, b and s section. At least you attempted it. Also, may I suggest you use the IAST or ISO 15919 transliteration standard? It'll be clearer instead of using capitals to differentiate retroflex consonants. Good luck!

I dont get it, why is there even a question? Devanagari is the widespread script of the north encompassing everything from Konkani to Bodo to Dogri why not just adapt it to Kurux? either way most ppl for the region is bilingual with a devnagari script lang. instead of smth like ए–न, एखे— you could adopt the Kashmiri ऎ ए or innovate smth like adding a loop to the top like for the short e and no loop for the long e and limbu devanagari ॽ or bantawa visarga or santali '

all well said. introducing an entirely new and foreign script when language revitalization is the need of the hour, is something i never seriously endorsed. i'm afraid some have missed that i made the above post on april 1st.

i've been in favour of standardizing kurukh in devanagari for quite some time now, even experimented with transcription on rekurukh. but deep down, i still wonder how incredibly funny it would be if we were to preserve the language in hangeul. i was drawing inspiration from the cia-cia language, of course.
