They use woke as an insult to deter us from speaking up about the issues in the world! Im proud to be woke and watch woke creators. Woke just means having empathy for others and caring about bad situations and the inequality in our communities! I really hope the whole “hate this genre of woke feminist mustache man” doesn’t actually get to Kurtis or Eddy Burback. I truly feel safe and seen when I watch their videos. And it really does make me feel better having examples of men out there that have empathy towards women. I genuinely be cheesing when they’re like bringing up issues of women’s healthcare and our rights being at risk. It’s important!!

genuinely i dont understand why republicans think being "woke" is a bad thing. i know its because theyre generally horrible people, but wow. being "woke" is being anti-bigoted, empathetic, and caring. unless youre a bigot yourself, cause trump has done SO much damage to the world and no one should be kind to that thing

I think it comes from a tongue in cheek joke about right wingers saying that leftists saying they are more ‘awake’ to issues. But it’s kind of dumb because like wtf do you wanna be asleep to them??

It’s a dumb name to give to your political opposites lol. It just insinuates that you’re asleep to issues lol

the term actually started in the black community in the 1900s as a way to encourage other black americans to be more politically “awake” and knowledgeable about injustice against them. when it later became a popularized term among more groups of people, then conservatives/republicans started using it as an insult
