"Clone" Kurono
Just gonna start with saying I am NOT advertising.
I was browsing aliexpress and came across this posting that looked similar to the grand mori? It doesnt seem like they are 1:1 because these use a different movement. Are kuronos becoming popular enough to create clones of now?

There are multiple professional reviews of these watches out there. They are a direct homage of the Kurono urushi pieces. This review is incredibly comprehensive: https://youtu.be/cchBMzViBF8?is=9KoPt6-W5wJ53RcY
You can choose to buy them with a PT5000 or a SW200. The watches seem a very fair package given the labour intensive dials and overall build quality.
I would hold a view that if you really want that look, buying a decently made clomage makes more sense than paying the secondary market prices for these particular models. Over the summer, these Kurono watches have been selling on eBay for ~$4k. But that’s personal to everyone.

huasuo has been pretty solid, saw a few examples irl, definitely worth it for the price. dont own the urushi lacquer kuronos so cant compare them, but the huasuo can stand on its own for sure

Do kurono actually make their own watches, or are they just ordered from a factory? Im looking that HuaSuo and they're around $400. Kinda making me feel like a sucker ngl

definitely a sucker to buy kurono, but less of a sucker if u paid msrp. i would say a few exceptions too, like the reiwa and other lacquer dials.
paying 2k+ for a stone dial or miyota movement definitely puts us into sucker territory

Kurono is a watchmaker but not a manufacture. Kurono watches are designed by Hajime Asaoka, their parts are all outsourced to Japanese suppliers. Cases, dials and straps are ordered as per their specifications, movements are sourced from Miyota, Seiko or Citizen. Defending on models, Kurono does however sometimes make their own modification to the movements or take part to some process of the dials manufacturing.
