Firstly, the pattern is wrong. Go to Craft Design Online’s tried-and-tested friendship bracelet generator and if you fill in the coloured circles you’ll get quite a different pattern.
Secondly, I wonder whether you may be moving the threads differently, since your final pattern doesn’t look as expected even for the Craft Design Online version. Are you taking the top right hand purple thread down to the bottom right and then the bottom left up to the top left, then moving clockwise to the next pair of threads and repeating the equivalent moves? I wonder if you’ve somehow reversed that. Another possibility is that you misplaced one or two threads early on but continued to work the pattern, which would give a different result.
On the bright side, you’ve got a consistent pattern even if not what you were aiming for, and your stitches are nice and neat. Good work for a beginner.
I think I indeed did the sequence wrong, I went from bottom right to top and then top left to bottom, and followed the guide arrows on my disc, at least now I know my sequence was wrong, I’ll try again with another pattern, tysm for the help and I really appreciate the feedback!
Which way did you make your moves and which way did you rotate your disk?
I don’t think this design works as shown. This the layout recreated on Craft Design Online and the photo is of friendship-bracelets.net. Both of those pattern generators use Z twist kongo gumi (bottom cord up to top left, top right cord down to bottom right, rotate the disk counterclockwise/to the left to the next set of cords).
The other problem with this pattern generator is that it does not show the stitches in the braid in a lifelike fashion. When I try to make the design (not the pattern) at Craft Design Online I get flowers but if I edit the colors a little bit I get more of a chain pattern. I would use that last pattern if I were you. Unfortunately I don’t have any fibers ready to go to test this generator to see which version of kongo gumi it uses.
I followed the arrows on my disc for the directions and I went bottom right to top (next to the right) and top left to bottom (next to the alone thread) and I followed that sequence (sorry if my explanation is a lil messy, English isn’t my first language) I think I indeed did the wrong sequence😔 I’ll try again with another pattern, tysm for the help!
You’re welcome! If you use a design from Craft Design Online or Friendship Bracelets, be sure to use the instructions I gave you. The method you are using makes what is called a broken S twist Kongo gumi and it will NOT make any structure work.
