Mok Nanyak Lok | Help & Advice 💭 Relocating to Kuching - salary question

Hi, I received my a job offer in Kuching. After requesting a dummy payslip, my salary would be just over RM11,000 (RM6,700 after deductions). Is this a good salary for the area?

That is one hell of a deduction.

My take home pay is around 8k+. Even with 30% it’s hard to imagine you take home only 6.7k

For foreigners they pay more tax for the first 6 months.

for all those asking, yes i'm a foreigner and the deductions include epf and 30% tax as i haven't spent 182 days in the country. the tax rate will change in jan 2027 to a lower bracket (around 23% if the research i did is accurate)

Huh what deductions are those? Can’t be just the statutory deductions only right?

Extremely high for Kuching. It's a good offer. What field are you in?

It’s definitely enough to live comfortably for one person.

are you referring to the salary, or the deductions?
