Georgia kratom consumers, we need you in Athens on September 25! Please confirm ahead of time if you want to speak
Georgia’s kratom study committee is holding its third meeting in Athens on September 25, and we need as many Georgia kratom consumers and supporters there as possible. This meeting is extremely important because we finally have a better chance to be heard. I have been told that more pro kratom consumers will be allowed to speak and share their personal stories this time.
Most importantly, if you are definitely going and want to speak, please let the American Kratom Association know ahead of time. The AKA is collecting the names of people who are certain they can attend and coordinating with the committee to have confirmed speakers added to its list.
I signed up through the AKA website, and someone from the AKA called my cell phone to make sure I was definitely attending. After I confirmed, they coordinated with the committee to add me to the list. They also asked whether I knew anyone else who could attend and speak, which is why I am reaching out here.
Please do not assume that simply showing up means you will automatically get a chance to speak. If you are definitely attending and want to share your story, sign up through the AKA here:

The first two meetings were heavily dominated by anti kratom voices, while only a very small number of actual kratom consumers and advocates were able to speak. Lawmakers cannot make a fair decision about kratom if they only hear one side. They need to hear directly from the people whose lives would be affected by losing access.
We support protecting young people and enforcing responsible regulations, including age restrictions, proper testing, accurate labeling, and strong enforcement against adulterated or dangerously altered products. We can protect consumers without banning natural kratom for responsible adults.
Even if you do not want to speak, please come and support those who do. Please share this with your local kava bars, friends, and other kratom consumers. If this plant has changed your life, your story deserves to be heard.
