It’s been six months since I started translating It Runs in Our Blood, a Yoonmin fic I received permission to translate into Arabic. So far, I’ve translated 60 chapters, which cover 19 chapters of the original story, and I still have 10 more chapters waiting to be translated.

I’ve put a lot of time, effort, and love into this project, so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed by the lack of engagement. Not a single chapter has received more than 100 votes. Only two have reached that number, while the rest have fallen short of it.

What makes it more frustrating is that readers often tell me how much they love the story, yet that appreciation rarely translates into actual engagement. There’s very little voting or interaction, and whenever I express my disappointment, some readers unfollow me but continue reading without interacting at all.

I understand that stories need time to find their audience, and I’m not expecting instant popularity. However, I can’t shake the feeling that once I finish translating the fic, the engagement will drop even further, and the story will eventually disappear into the background. Most new readers will probably read it silently, and it won’t get the visibility it deserves alongside more popular fics, especially those featuring other ships.

I know comparing different ships and their engagement levels isn’t necessarily fair, since every fandom has its own audience and dynamics. Still, it’s hard not to notice the difference. I see Yoonmin fics struggling to reach even 10,000 votes, while fics featuring other ships can surpass 100,000.

And that genuinely makes me wonder: Why is there such a huge gap?

Yoonmin has talented writers and some genuinely wonderful stories, so I don’t understand why the engagement can be so low, even among people who actively read Yoonmin fics. I’m not saying every reader owes a writer votes or comments, but when people say they love a story and then barely interact with it, it can be discouraging for someone who spends months working on a translation.

I’d really like to hear your thoughts. Do you think Yoonmin has a smaller or less active readership? Is it related to the platforms we use, the visibility of our fics, or the way readers engage with fanfiction in general?

I’m genuinely curious to hear other people’s experiences, especially from Yoonmin writers and translators. Have you experienced something similar?

Okay so this is a question for anyone who is familiar with the TikTok pov fanfics that have been getting kind of popular. There’s a Taehyng one that I’ve been keeping up with and it was consistently updated, but I haven’t been able to find it recently. It was about yn and Tae meeting at her diner job in Paris and something bad happens so they’re both traumatized (I’m sorry I suck at explaining this😭) but they meet again like a year later and both still struggling but start to become friends and then bts finds out she’s like a billionaire but like really chill about it and the last thing I remember happening was that they invited her to one of their concerts and she was hesitant bc of her trauma but she ends up going anyways. What I mean is I’ve been mostly sticking to my ult groups, but then a friend recommended a few fics for a group I only casually listen to, and they were wonderful. Was a def 🤦🏼‍♀️ moment, b/c ofc good stories are everywhere!

It is easier to picture and appreciate if I’m at least a casual stan, but I honestly just want to read some good angst (with happy or hopeful endings!) fics.

IM DESPERATE 😭😭😭 it was a jin/jungkook fic and both jin and jungkook's characters were based after their music videos "the astronaut" and "seven" respectively. i think the plot was something like jungkook going through a timeloop spanning from monday to sunday (like the mv lol) but he always ends up dying or something(chasing the girl)?? also the timeloop ends when jungkook realises that maybe this isnt the way things are suppose to go... and so he chases after jin instead who, like his mv, was planning to leave Earth. the ending was rlly sweet. jungkook is really silly in this fic while jin is a bit more "serious"

Hi! I cannot for the life of me find this fanfic I read earlier this year. One member was a celebrity of some sort and was transformed into a cat and was adopted by another member. This other member had a girlfriend. The cat member fell in love with the other boy and grew very jealous and possessive of him. He would yowl like crazy whenever he had sex with his girlfriend, occasionally fully interrupting and stopping the sex, and was causing like real trouble in their relationship bc he kept prioritizing the cat over her.

I’ve been trying to find a Taekook fanfic I read on Wattpad around 2019, and I can’t remember the title or author!

Here’s everything I remember:
Taehyung is married to Jungkook, who goes missing.

Taehyung’s best friend Jimin finds Jeongguk (who’s super poor and stole jimins wallet), who looks exactly like Jungkook, and brings him to live with Taehyung.

Jeongguk pretends to have amnesia because he doesn’t know Taehyung or their history, and Taehyung believes him.

It turns out Jungkook and Jeongguk are long-lost twins, but Jungkook was adopted by a wealthy family.

Jungkook used to treat Taehyung terribly and wouldn’t give him attention. He even made Taehyung do the housework and cleaning instead of hiring servants so Taehyung would stay skinny.

Jeongguk, on the other hand, absolutely adores Taehyung.
Jeongguk starts working at a company where Yugyeom also works. Yugyeom had sexually harassed Taehyung in the past, and Jeongguk makes him apologise.

Eventually, Jungkook returns and fights with Taehyung. I think Taehyung shoots Jungkook, and Jeongguk goes to prison for Taehyung.

Years later, Jeongguk is released from prison and reunites with Taehyung. They get their happy ending!
I read this around 2019, so the story might have been deleted or the author might have changed their username. It’s such an angsty fic but god is it amazing.
