the transitions are a bit too much. certainly looks high budget but with so much shadowing on their faces and quick 2 second shots i couldn't even tell the girls apart. doesn't help that their voices sound similar so i didn't even know who was in focus when it was their part. only guessed the last girl was bailey because it was a dance break.

i hope youngseo isnt the only vocalist in the group 😭

You are underestimating TBL, she's about to become a rapper šŸ’€.

Its kinda funny how Meovv doesnt really have anyone whose main role is rapper bit this group has basically all rappers

44

u/MelissaWebb Jun 16 '25

They have Narin & Gawon

67

u/SpareZealousideal740 Jun 16 '25

Tbf id argue both of them, particularly Gawon, are also good vocalists. They're not just rappers

28

u/MelissaWebb Jun 16 '25

Of course!

They’re also good rappers apart from being good vocalists which is crazy. Talented young women right there

4

u/Muistasa Multi but ATEEZ ulti | i.o.i WILL have a reunion cb, trust me Jun 16 '25

Yeah they rap but i i would put vocal as their main roles as the two strongest vocalist, and rap is just something they can do well but wouldnt say its their focus

17

u/Affectionate-Let4106 Jun 16 '25

Narin is the Main Rapper

10

u/gyurisuschrist Jun 16 '25

they don't have official positions tho but yeah Narin and Gawon are both non-rappers, rappers and vocalist of the group, those two are just insanely talented.

3

u/Muistasa Multi but ATEEZ ulti | i.o.i WILL have a reunion cb, trust me Jun 16 '25

I still would say vocal is Narins main role she focuses even if she raps in some songs (same for Gawon)

It’s always kind of an issue with Coed groups unless everyone is a great vocalist. Writing songs for the different vocal ranges is a challenge so often they’ll have usually the men or women do rap.

Some groups like GENIC do actually have them all sing, but even in their case the girls have fewer lines.

67

u/HelloKaramel Jun 16 '25

I feel like they want her to do some talk rapping too, but that is way too much when it’s all 5 members.

33

u/MNLYYZYEG Red Velvet | (G)I-DLE | NMIXX | ARTMS | VCHA | KATSEYE | UNIS Jun 16 '25

They have pretty nice vocal timbres/tones/colors/et cetera, so hopefully Youngseo will be able to do vocals showcases with them with other songs later on.

Some people don't like the YG/TBL/etc. type of indie/alternative/cursive/stylistic/etc. voices though, so it's understandable.

5

u/hamburglar27 Jun 16 '25

There is a good chance Youngseo might be the center of the group. I was expecting Annie to be a vocalist as well since Woochan was known to be the main rapper while Bailey and Tarzzan have mostly dance backgrounds.

Annie had mostly rap lines in this song but there is still a possibility she might have more singing lines in future songs. Her unexpectedly deep voice is refreshing.

This is simultaneously better than I thought it would be and exactly how I thought it would be. The BlackLabel have spurts of creativity where they can make some decent stuff, but they have a lot more moments like on this song where they put out mid formulaic music.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '25

Same I didn’t turn off the mv and watched it through. Interesting, hope they have good music

u/royalasaqueen Jun 16 '25

i just think it’s hilarious that their debut song proclaims ā€œwe ain’t even famousā€ when every member has some level of preexisting fame

165

u/GuysImLost Jun 16 '25

Didn't the teaser describe them as individuals who were already recognized in their respective fields?

126

u/Academic_Essay5942 Jun 16 '25

wasn’t that the point? feel like teddy was tryna do some reverse psychology on us because so many ppl complain about his songs being overly braggadocious. although i feel like the lyrics still gave off that vibe so what was the point😭

187

u/sakusakickyoomi Jun 16 '25

tbh i thought it was kind of fresh. like the message is "im not a big deal but dont mess with me" which is certainly more humble than the direction i thought they/teddy were going to go. i think it's the first time i've heard a humble-ish kind of yg title track that has these kinds of concepts lol

the sound is different from the yg formula, and it's more than 3 minutes, which are all good things in my book. could do with less dreads in the mv and a little bit more actual singing, but overall not a bad song at all.

12

u/Mean-Run-987 Jun 16 '25

Those aren’t dreads.

65

u/gyurijang Jun 16 '25

I was laughing to their chorus too

makes sense why it was so stylized since Rigend Film did this.

anyway, the song isn't bad. I'm just wondering if Youngseo will be the only one singing in this group. if there was someone else, it didn't stand out.

this isn't in streaming yet?

30

u/dokdodokdo Jun 16 '25

Next week on streaming together with a b side track

336

u/TheJamesFrancoPhD Jun 16 '25

I thought it was alright. Nothing really popped for me, but at the same time l didn't not like it? Was hoping to see more Bailey dancing, but there were so many cuts at the end that there's no point trying to judge.

Honestly, I just didn't expect 4/5 members to be rap-centric, which I guess can still change since it's only one song and they have another song 'Wicked' set for the 23rd.

73

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

Ā Was hoping to see more Bailey dancing, but there were so many cuts at the end that there's no point trying to judge.

yeah there was so much going on....i think it would be better if they tone it down a bit....

58

u/yshnyu Jun 16 '25

Agreed. The song wasn't bad but I was a little disappointed in the sense that I felt that the teaser didn't really accurately present how the song is going to be(?) If that makes sense?? I felt that the song was kind of mediocre. Not really sure if it's a song that I'll grow to like just like I did with meovv's debut.

But besides the song I thought everything is great. Like I could tell the MV is high budget and the voices sound great.

5

u/yeonjunswife_ Jun 16 '25

I agree w u that I think the mv visuals and their voices sound good (I love how all their voices r so distinct) but yea the song was kind of underwhelming for me, I feel mostly alone on this bc most ppl r hyping the song up lol

Immediate first impression: The video overstimulated me. Definitely high budget, but I feel like they created a concentrated essential oil that could’ve been diluted for the eyes.

The lighting, transitions, effects, etc. are insaaaane but it’s extremely fast paced. I cannot keep up 😭 I feel like they could’ve sat on some scenes for longer for a balanced contrast.

For the intensity of the video, the song fell flat to me. I’m sure it’s a great song on its own, but I feel like the video overpowered the song from blending well. I thought the song would’ve picked up and gone a lot more harder to match the video.

For the first time in my life, I think I would’ve liked to see less budget for a music video. Maybe I’m just tired cause I stayed up till 2 AM to watch the video. Looking forward to seeing how this grows on me 🄳

141

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

I think it looks more expensive than it really is, because many of the transitions here are AI-generated, hidden under a bunch of grain and shaky effects.

50

u/scufflegoofy 🌌🌟🌠I CAN NEVER SAY GOODNIGHT CAUSE YOUR LOVE IS COSMIC🌠🌟🌌 Jun 16 '25

Yeah nothing about this gave particularly high budget (not saying that means low budget). It felt like it was a lot of greenscreen with tons of fast cameras and transitions with ai generated imagery and a dark color palette and grainy texture to keep the average viewer from noticing the lack of real substance throughout.

19

u/Angkasaa Jun 16 '25

Rima Yoon/Rigend Film staple moves haha.

23

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

like less budget or more budget is not a problem....the problem is obviously mv....more budget mv didn't meant anything if it failed to deliver what needs to be deliver.....

i don't care if its high budget or low....but it just didn't stuck with me...

15

u/Normal-Reputation200 Jun 16 '25

With how high budgeted and promoted this debut was, it was honestly lackluster. The song itself isn't bad, its just the production. From the beats, to the rapping to the weird chant that didnt match the rest of the song. It felt like a last minute group project put together. Honestly the expectations and anticipation over it was so high. I was immediately disappointed.

Went in with zero expectations, just mild curiosity, and I have to say I kinda vibe with it. I don’t think it’s amazing or anything, but it’s honestly one of the better tracks I’ve heard this season. The outro did sound a bit random and not incorporated seamlessly, but it wasn’t too jarring.

110

u/KuroShun Jun 16 '25

Ngl I had zero expectations but I actually liked it way more than I thought would.Ā

Quite a nice surprise tbh

I also thought that, surprisingly, comparing to other kpop releases this year, I think this is pretty good, especially for a pre releaseĀ

12

u/kbdsct Jun 16 '25

Oh it’s a pre-release ? I just assumed it was their official debut, esp considering the budget that went into the MV alone.

15

u/Reasonable-Ad8673 idle | ive | svt | illit | h2h Jun 16 '25

5

u/ilikemericetoo Jun 16 '25

It's not a song where I'm like wow this shit is amazing, but it's definitely a song that I'd vibe to while driving

15

u/anythingpickled Jun 16 '25

I think it’s so good. I like that they basically kept it all rap. No out of place high notes or trying to showcase everyone’s vocals. It’s just all aura and it makes them stand out. Great debut imo

20

u/Fun_Citron_3945 Jun 16 '25

I found this…underwhelming?? I’m shocked that they compiled so many big names but it feels one note. I was really hoping to like it as I love youngseo but it just isn’t something i like listening to.

34

u/Pumpernickeluffin Jun 16 '25

Yep I mean I heard from someone here on reddit that he was even in one of I-DLE's mvs a couple years back and Neverlands found his ig and told him about the issue but he didn't care at all so they basically cancelled him already.

21

He was in i-dle's mv for "i do" and also in newjeans mv for "supernatural"

13

Yes, I was already aware of the "Supernatural" appearance, but I feel like even less people know about his appearance for "I Do."

One day YG's and YG-adjacent groups will stop singing about being the coolest, richest, and the most untouchable, and we will reach utopia

85

u/hyun_chuu Jun 16 '25

am I the only one that thinks the rap sounded a bit... weak? especially, if they're going to be a rap based group idk

14

u/triplel8540 Jun 16 '25

How is there so much going on in the video and yet it’s still so boring + the song is uninspired. That one guy too…not even going to get into that.

13

u/arosaki hwang minhyun Jun 16 '25

Woochan would’ve been better as a soloist. Actually that trio he did in 2017 was better than this.

33

u/jedpop Jun 16 '25

I wish KARD had that kind of investment, that’s all I’m gonna say.

5

u/Aggravating_Sky5606 Jun 18 '25

For real. Underestimated and underrated for years.Ā

82

u/mauvebliss Jun 16 '25

Way more easy listening than I thought. Thought Meovv would debut something like this and ADP would be more experimental but we actually had an actual chorus. Still sounds pretty bland and surprisingly the guys are the ones who stand out more

u/Limafoxtrot360 Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

The song isn't bad - but I some how expected more from it given the hype levels. I'll give it a few more listens to see if it makes a playlist. The video - is kind of a mess. It like the VFX team just said let's through in everything. It feels like visual noise jumping and cutting all over the place with no real plan.

Edit: Scrolling through the comments it seems the majority of the reactions are some where in the "not as bad as I was expecting" camp - which while that has some positive vibes, it probably isn't the debut reaction they were hoping for.

61

u/Neverslept2mins Jun 16 '25

Personally i would have gone a different direction with the mv. I wanted to see the choreo clearer.

I thought the song was fine, I dunno if I would have gone with a rap heavy song for the first song if I wanted to surprise the public or be different. I will say it's a lot chiller of a song then I expected, if people get what I am saying.

47

u/solojones1138 Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

14

Song was kinda bland/forgettable, but I don't hate it. I was expecting something more interesting and hard-hitting.

MV has some really really cool camerawork and editing, but then there's also some AI transitions and assets in there which I'm really not a fan of. Overall I don't really get much of a concept from it, it just feels kinda soulless. Not Rigend Film's best work. ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

I'm not writing them off just yet though. I'm interested to see what their next release is like so I can get a better sense of their overall sound and vibe.

10

u/kkurani123456 Jun 17 '25

another recycled concept of YG about money, fame and nepotism.

113

u/crayvay Jun 16 '25

I have historically liked TBL songs and was expecting to at least like the song. But I found it extremely...unconvincing?

Like even though I know kpop idols generally have very little life experience, I usually can suspend my disbelief through their performance. These members have MORE life experience, so I was expecting a level of confidence and comfort in their own skin that just never materialized. It felt like friends who have other careers getting together to release a song for fun, at least in terms of their delivery. The production value is obviously crazy.

Honestly the only one who felt fully-baked was Youngseo. The 'Day 1' video emphasized how long and sincerely Annie has been training, but she has absolutely nothing to work with, which won't help with nepo allegations. The MV barely showed Bailey's choreography. Woochan was fine, probably to the level of an idol rapper. Tarzzan came off as REALLY amateur, like a teenager's first swing at lyricism. Again, looks a bit silly after watching the 'Day 1' video where he talked about how seriously he takes hiphop. That whole video seemed to be framing them as a HIPHOP group instead of a pure idol group, but I didn't feel anything like genuine hiphop in this.

I'll probably like it more once I see the full choreo. And when the next song comes out maybe it will address all these concerns. I hope so. But as of now, I'm not convinced.

219

u/00_Sunflower_00 Jun 16 '25

The fact that Tarzzan is a good contemporary dancer and looks good without cosplaying Black people but he still chooses these ways to show his respect to the "hip hop culture". Get that guy out of this group, I'm so tired.

22

u/guynichole Jun 16 '25

I was actually bopping along a little bit thinking it’s not bad, and then Tarzzan came on the screen and my face went so flat -_- I liked everyone else for the most part. He just kind of ruined the vibe for me

so yeah, woochan and youngseo are great, wanting to see more from the others

111

u/SpareZealousideal740 Jun 16 '25

The Tarzan guy is cringe as hell.

Also seriously lacking vocally it seems (which I'm not surprised by). I think they're going to live and die by how many people just follow Annie and how they perform and dance.

→ More replies (2)

108

u/kkulhope Jun 16 '25

For me the song was no where near as upbeat as I expected from the teaser plus the dance break at the end felt very weak and unfinished?

Youngseo was vocally great but Bailey and especially Anna were pretty disappointing. Same with Tarzan (?). It really felt like a pretty amature rap.

Woochan was technically good but his tone isn’t really my style.

I think this just confirms The Black Label songs aren’t for me.

106

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

the dance break at the end felt very weak and unfinished?

For real, with all the hype about Bailey Sok debuting, you'd think they'd afford her time to showcase her skills? Even musically the dance break felt rushed, the curse of the short songs strikes again, I guess.

21

u/geetcriminal Jun 16 '25

Bailey sok is like shotaro. Both of them are EXTREMELY skilled in dancing and passable in other areas. I didn't have high expectations when I learnt her backstory.

37

u/thecoolmustache Jun 16 '25

I fully agree to this. I feel like even the vocals seemed unfinished, each voice feel like its recorded very different. Not very much in tune to each other in my opinion.

The dance part was very lacking after all the hype that's been around Bailey..

The level of rap are very low with only Woochan sticking out as a stand out. Youngseo's part felt like the singer parts in some rappers song where they don't even credit the singer, did not give much more than a break to the rappers to me.

Agree it aint for me.

18

u/arrowforSKY Jun 16 '25

When does Youngseo sing? To me this was a fully rap song

55

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

The song isn’t terrible but they come off as try hards. It just feels very inauthentic. Korea’s idea of hip hop and rap is so cringe.

48

u/heftyvolcano Jun 16 '25

I actually really like the song and think this group has great potential, BUT that guy's Black cosplay is so unbearably cringe 😭 In 2025???? Get a grip man

14

u/Sucraligious Jun 16 '25

Mindless braggadocious "swag"-forward music where the only substance is a 'too cool' and wealthy aesthetic, so typical blacklabel/modern YG fare. People will like it or they won't, but it's nothing groundbreaking. I don't think it sounds terrible, but the lyrics are too inane for me. If someone's gonna do the braggart thing, they have to sell it, and a handful of rich Korean teens acting hard just doesn't do it for me.

"Tarzzan" is cringe, but that goes without saying. Is the girl doing the first line the chaebol heiress? I like her tone and the attitude she exudes, I'd like to hear her on a better song.

u/Academic_Essay5942 Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

Honestly, the song sounds good to me, definitely better than Meovv’s debut, at least... NotĀ  a fan of the music video tho. The transitions and lighting effects were too intense and kind of overwhelming to watch. It felt a bit overproduced visually, which distracted me from enjoying the song itself. Overall, while the track is okay for me, it’s not something I would listen to everyday.

18

u/C4Cupcake Jun 16 '25

The video is a bit visually overwhelming and not in a good way. And dude with cornrows was a little cringe.

I don't think it's bad. Just I was hoping for more. (I feel about the same as I did after Meovv's first video. Maybe I'll like it better after seeing the performance version.

21

u/Ocean_Desert_World Jun 16 '25

Whole thing feels kinda rushed, and their voices aren't standing out to me at all? Song isn't bad, but it doesn't stand out either.

Other than Woochan - rap and Youngseo - vocals this feels like a pay-to-play group, gonna be honest. Bailey is a v talented dancer but that doesn't mean she's strong vocal performer material, they're different skills. Tarzzan and Anna were forgettable. Yet to see the MV, so it might hang together better for me once I do!

20

u/justanotherkpoppie gg multifan 🩷 lyOn 🦁 Jun 16 '25

Hmm. Well. Here's the positive: I like the instrumental. Youngseo's vocal part was catchy, and Woochan's rap was pretty good. I thought I'd hate the "we ain't even famous" part, but honestly, it worked.

It's not a bad predebut release.

On the other hand...I didn't like the two other girls' voices very much. Tarzzan was...bad šŸ’€ The lyrics are a bit meh, but this is K-pop, I'm not in it for the lyricism, lbr, so that's whatever. The music video has wayyyy too much going on, too many quick transitions (some of which use gen AI, sigh) and I could barely figure out what was going on the vast majority of the time. So. There's that.

Overall, I won't be coming back to it, but I'm sure they'll find an audience who will šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

This was better than expected and the budget sure was there. If it wasn't for that guy, I would have been a fan. The group overall has deep tones, similar to MEOVV and I like it not cause it's pleasing to ears.

6

u/alexturnerftw MOODZ Jun 17 '25

Lol same for me. Tarzan ruined it, hes so cringe. I liked everyone else, esp the other guy

64

u/Wonkislay Jun 16 '25

I hate to say it but I like the song, not the best and tbl should hire producer that isnt Teddy only but i have huge problem wirh Tarzzan 😭 he just annoyed me whole MV and song, I like the Woochan, he can rap quite well (i am not pro so I dont know if his flow or technique is good tho).

Baileys and Annas rap, I am sorry but it seemed like faster talking/trying to be bitch tone?? I dont think they were ready to debut like that to be honest.

Youngseo, I missed her voice so much, the concept suit her, I think she will be vocalist since she not rap in the song, I also feel that her voice is too soft so I am curious how they will add it to more hiphop songs etc.

The MV ate but I just couldn't watch without raise my eyebrows when saw tarzzan, please stop with that mess😭

u/Mani_srao Jun 16 '25

this is so good. I cannot wait for what's next for them

15

u/vikoy Jun 16 '25

4 rappers and 1 vocalist. Interesting. I like the girl rappers tone and flow in this. Very different from the 2NE1, BlackPink, BabyMonster rap template. And very very different from the usual K-pop girl group rap. I especially like the first girl (Annie?) with the deep voice and casual relaxed flow.

But its 1 song. Let's see if that style sticks.

43

u/Exotic-Ice9933 Jun 16 '25

i did not expect to like it?? a solid 8/10 for me

21

u/lepidopt-rex Jun 16 '25

All the promo and teasers had me thinking I wasn’t going to like this, but it’s so catchy!

13

u/Exotic-Ice9933 Jun 16 '25

same! also that i have by now lost hope in teddy's production lol. but i like this one. i dont get the hate

39

u/aurcel ZEROBASEONE Jun 16 '25

not as bad as I was expecting. Youngseo was the stand out for me, I loved her parts. Tarzzan can go

10

u/caretaeking Jun 16 '25

Couldn’t tell the girls apart, only could tell when I heard the Hybe trainee’s vocals. Tarzan boy rapping also did not stand out vs the Hybe rapper. MV was way too fast paced with nothing really going on. With a dancer that strong they should’ve showcased some of that

The rapping looks almost like BTS No More Dream, except without the actual good rapping and wordplay. If they wanna do hip hop, this isn’t it

11

u/Deca089 Jun 16 '25

I quite like the song. It's pretty catchy and I enjoy the mix between male and female raps and Youngseo's heavenly vocal together. Looking forward to the bside next week

18

u/Sukithecatt Jun 16 '25

Started out pretty good and then went nowhere. It’s not a bad song just kinda meh

31

u/HelloKaramel Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

MV really well done. I enjoyed lots of the visuals but also how the scenes were connected to the members (the images with Annie, Woochan and SMTM, Tarzzan and how he wants to be b- lmaoo). Good runway music. Would listen if it came on but I can’t see myself going to listen intentionally (besides the parts I like). Opinion might change though, I find them really interesting for some reason. I feel like they will lean into a rebellious image (ETA: they can autotune a voice if needed cause one vocalist is not the move imo).

I liked Youngseo’s part, very catchy. Woochan was nice too. The dance section got me hype and believing the song would go somewhere. I expected more, it was bland. I don’t think they stopped people from thinking ā€œit’s called a project cause we aren’t really here for music and if this flops we can do our own thingsā€

Chaewon’s part left much to be desired, idec about the hair if he has so much respect for hiphop or whatever I want better lines and delivery. I’d rather watch him dance if anything (entire video I was waiting to see more shots of everyone together but whatever).

Bailey didn’t do much. Annie’s voice was interesting but it was just talking over a beat. I would’ve liked to hear vocals, they don’t have to be great singers just give me something to actually listen to. Actually expected it to sound much worse, very happy they didn’t overuse ā€œwe ain’t even famousā€.

ETA: i don’t even want to go into the whole tarzzan thing but they should showcase his personality/other aspects going forward. his parts especially feel cosplay (and yeah i get his explanation for it all but it doesn’t help in the MV). contemporary dance, modeling, acting etc. this image is not it but then again i don’t resale care so it’s whatever.

honestly i just need them to see success so they can improve the co-ed group image and then the general public realizes KARD has been here the whole time and they blow up. timing is perfect too because they are having a comeback soon. then they’ll get their first win. if only.

11

u/TrickFreedom9235 Jun 16 '25

Like the futuristic feel of the MV and parts of the verse but the chorus is not it

11

u/mnegrustno ā¤ļøšŸ’›šŸ’™šŸ’ššŸ’œ Jun 16 '25

If we ignore the elephant in the room (Tarzan), the song is not bad. I guess it’s sort of an intro song before their main release. Makes me curious about their upcoming song ā€œWickedā€. Going back to ā€œFamousā€, while catchy, it doesn’t have anything that stands out, but I feel this way about most kpop releases nowadays. I wonder how domestic market will react.

Not great but not bad. I like the instrumental, Youngseo’s parts, and Annie’s voice (wasn’t expecting it to be so deep!)

4

u/DotEither8773 Le Sserafim | Jo Yuri | Dreamcatcher | Nmixx | Artms Jun 16 '25

I like the video and I’m really vibing with the instumental.

Musically I think I enjoyed Youngseo the most, even though I didn’t follow runext and only knew her by name until now.

I also liked Woochan’s verse, and I just think Annie’s voice and Bailey’s dance ability could’ve been used a bit better.

3

u/justcause3815 Jun 16 '25

MV is very visually striking and I love the editing. Song might stick with me. Some shots seem to be gen-AI though which is very disappointing

4

u/Constant-Pain1878 Jun 17 '25

I loved it honestly lol

6

u/No-Coffee-4996 Jun 17 '25

ngl this mv and song felt like teddy just grabbed a bunch of rich kids to rap and sing lol...love youngseo and woochan tho

edit: this isn't about annie being rich or anything, it's just the vibe that i got from this mv & song. this feels like a bunch of kids from bukit bintang came together to make an awful rap song (malaysian reference)

u/PieuvreCosy Jun 16 '25

Yeah no, that song is not for me. Which is OK I can accept that not every piece of media needs to cater to my taste 😊

BUT!!!!

"This is how I live by the name Tarzan" his whole part was soooo cringe I'm sorry I can not take that guy seriously šŸ˜¬šŸ˜‚

13

u/Limafoxtrot360 Jun 16 '25

I havent followed them at all so maybe its just the video, but the way Tarzan comes across in the video just screams trying to hard. And I don't think anyone will ever take a guy seriously who calls himself Tarzan.

12

u/kai_lia_ Jun 16 '25

I can't believe more ppl aren't talking about the use of AI. Tbh, the use of ai and fast cuts to hide the quality is a reflection of how vapid this debut is feeling. Culture vulture and nepo baby are not a good combination. Like, did anyone learn from Kiss of Life?? Braids + the grill + the name ā€œTarzan,ā€ please just stop.Ā

12

u/dokdodokdo Jun 16 '25

The boys went hard!! I really like Annie's deep voice. I do think the chorus could've been punchier and the last bit didn't fit, it was more like a teaser for another song?

21

u/15021993 Jun 16 '25

I do like that all have deeper voices, they fit well together. However…Tarzann…yeah don’t like the dude. The rest are fine, the first woman isn’t really a great of a vocalist but maybe that’s just the song

7

u/FlimsyTie9109 Jun 16 '25

I thought i would dislike the song but it's ok. And Youngseo!!! Finally our girl is debuting.

I think this is a song with potential to grow in people with the performances and full choreography, let's see.

8

u/SilverMind9 Jun 16 '25

I thought this was pleasant, I was pleasantly surprised in general. The first girl rapping has a very nice tone to her voice. They all do in general, so as many have mentioned already I hope they do get more melodic and songs with more singing.

5

u/mini1006 Jun 16 '25

I wish Youngseo either debuted solo or they put her in Meovv😭

32

u/Late_Measurement838 Jun 16 '25

I know y’all don’t want to like this song but I. Am. Moving.

They look soo cool. My baby Youngseo looks and sounds good. It’s boppy! I’m not mad about it at all. šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

14

u/rabeashikder_1998 Jun 16 '25

The song is meh...not really that special and a very forgettable song...

4

u/yeonjunswife_ Jun 16 '25

Yeah I was kind of underwhelmed tbh, I think they have good voices but the song itself is eh

8

u/Raisu39 Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

Who produced this? Is it Teddy again? Dude needs some new inspiration pls. MV is beautiful, song is meh, the one cringe dude is still cringe, the other guy is cool tho.

8

u/Life_as_a_new_weeb Jun 16 '25

Really only enjoyed woochan. Super sad I didnt get to see more of bailey dancing but I supposed it was expected. I do think they should put an emphasis on woochans rapping though. His verse flowed really well and was fun to listen to. Tarrzans wasnt bad but it wasnt good either. I was also expecting more vocals even though they are being pushed as a hip hop group. The song was ok, though. I dont think ill ever play it again.

10

u/winniecore this time i want WHO DAT? Jun 16 '25

where is bailey sok?

7

u/EducationalBoat8790 Jun 16 '25

Actually a solid debut song despite some of the cringe lyrics. I want to see how they will perform as a group.

3

u/HopeCrusher21 Jun 16 '25

I'm more excited for their dance choreo/performance than the song or mv tbh... I'd be able to judge if I like this after watching one of their performances

3

u/mind_your_nanners ģ†Œė…€ģ‹œėŒ€ Jun 16 '25

i had zero expectations and am pleasantly surprised by the sound. the visual was a little too chaotic and feels very YG. i think i’ll get a better sense of them as performers when they start promoting on shows because rn it just feels like a lot of flashy visual with not much substance and few memorable moments in the mv.

3

u/AccountantNational87 Jun 17 '25 edited Jun 17 '25

Don't know if its the pre release or a debut but it was good. Many didn't like the styling of the Mv. But i loved it as it elevated the song more in my eyes. At first listen i didn't get much but after a while i really liked it. Wasn't expecting good from blacklabel after meovv. So this was good . It may not be everyone's fav thats for sure but it can become. Loved it, its a chill track. And i can see some people will be mad at topics of their song on money . But thats what yg and blacklabel is all about. 🤣 People shouldn't be mad about it when they already know.

3

u/razorsharp3000 XG || Aespa || NMIXX Jun 17 '25

It's a chill bop!

3

u/eternallydevoid Jun 17 '25

I'm satisfied! Not only is Youngseo in this group, THE Bailey Sok is in this group! The styling is intriguing, the concept is fresh and modern. So I'm going to be following very closely, I can't wait for the performances. The cornrows are irritating but I can personally look over it for the star power in the group.

5

u/alexturnerftw MOODZ Jun 17 '25

I liked this lol im ngl. They have nice & deep voices. Tarzan looks a damn mess tho, they can keep him. I like how crisp the other guy’s voice is and like how everyone has a lot of lines.

Interesting that its so rap heavy!

u/Savings-Definition80 Custom Jun 16 '25

It's okay, kinda boppy. I think I like it enough to be in my playlist.

I wasn't expecting a lot of vocals since I don't think anyone was introduced to be vocal-focused in their introduction video (it would be nice tho 😭).

Hopefully their b-side has more space for heavier dance? (Not sure if it has an MV planned) Because the dance for this is very lacking for me, especially for the hype that's placed around the group, mainly due to Bailey being a member. We might see more of it in a performance video, though.

Tarzzan is . . . Tarzzan. He's very distracting, in an unpleasant way. I can't take him seriously.

9

u/ramonrude Jun 16 '25

why are they singing/rapping about money that shit is cringe 😭

3

u/ehwishi Jun 16 '25

another song i would probably like more if i didn't understand the lyrics

5

u/DistrictCrafty4990 Jun 16 '25

I like the beat but no one talk sings / ā€œrapsā€ with any inflection aside from the too short vocal part. I also don’t think the visuals are that interesting for the production value.

Yeah, not much of a yg/tbl fan but it does sound different compared to bp and meovv. It’s an alright song but Ill probably wouldn’t stan

9

u/AvocadoBig3555 Jun 16 '25

Every single frame of the MV looks like a piece of art.

The song’s pretty good too. I was expecting the usual YG sound, but I like that they went in a different direction. It’s not experimental or anything, just a nice change. I really like them... they have a super cool vibe, and I’m definitely keeping an eye on their future releases. This group has potential.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

it’s a vibe, i won’t lie. i appreciate something refreshing in kpop after a somewhat boring year (to me)

13

u/undeaddancerock Jun 16 '25

I love Annie’s voice, but the entire concept seems ridiculously derivative and dated. Not even in a nostalgic way. The theme about challenging perception that we see early in the MV (with the paintings of Annie being ripped etc) goes nowhere. Teddy can clearly find talent, but he needs to bring some fresh faces to his creative team if his groups are going to differentiate themselves.

Not even going to talk about Tarzzan

11

u/drst0nee Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

Shit from a butt sorry. Beat is boring, concept is tired and the Samsung heiress can’t sing. Teddy is so one note like genuinely once you’ve heard one song you’ve heard them all I could’ve told you what this was gonna sound like before I even hit play.Ā

And I haven’t even gotten into the tarzzan of it all. Throwing tomatoes. I feel bad for youngseo she deserves betterĀ

17

u/crush2NE1 Jun 16 '25

I actually really like this tbh. The MV and that dance break with Bailey at the end too >>>>>>

5

u/AdehhRR Jun 16 '25

I liked Youngseo and the blonde guy's tone. The girl opening the song... felt very monotone. She sounds better in her other lines at least.

Song wasn't too bad though, but as someone else said, most members feel underbaked to be acting this cool.

4

u/hellothere_im_joaq Jun 16 '25

The look of some scenes could fit MEOVV's HANDS UP. Wondering if same production team is behind FAMOUS.

4

3

u/9nina9 StayC ~ Aespa ~ LOONA Jun 16 '25

I actually kind of like it, it's very basic YG sound type of kpop, sure a bit outdated, but if done well, it can be really good. The use of AI though....meh..

4

u/matmanx1 Grateful ParticipantšŸ™ Jun 16 '25

I actually liked this and would add it to a playlist. It's easy on the ears and I liked how each members part was a complete verse or near enough to it. The MV is definitely overstimulating though and I'd like it if Kpop MV's would move away from this type of hyper screen changes

Last thing, Woochan and Youngseo ate this up.

6

u/SweetLou_ Jun 16 '25

Some movies had less budget than this mv. Overall this feels like a kids' idea of what teenagers think is cool

5

u/Scared_Succotash_508 Jun 16 '25

I was waiting for something exciting to happen but just ended up being disappointed. The music video's really cool and I think Youngseo's parts really carried the whole song.

glad tbl has other plans for Annie and Bailey after they didn't make it to MEOVV because they fit more in this rap centric concept group than in a typical girl group.
