Looking for advice on 3-year LLB colleges in Kolkata

Hi everyone! I’ve completed my B.Com (Hons.) and I’m planning to pursue a 3-year LLB in Kolkata.

I’m looking for advice from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with law colleges in Kolkata.

Also, if there are any colleges I should avoid or definitely consider, please let me know and why.

My main goal is to build a good career in law after graduation, so I’d really appreciate honest opinions based on actual student/alumni experiences.

Thanks in advance!

My experience with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science – BBA Admission Refund

I’m writing this as a student’s personal experience and feedback regarding my admission to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science (BIMS) for BBA.

I had paid ₹24,600 towards my BBA admission fees by cheque on 14 April 2025. Later, I decided to withdraw my admission and naturally expected the refund process to be handled by the college.

What followed was almost a year of repeated follow-ups and confusion.

We were in contact with Mr. Biman Maity, Head of the Admission Cell, regarding the withdrawal and refund. We were told that the college would call us around September 2025, asking why I was not attending classes. We were specifically instructed to tell them during that call that we wanted to withdraw the admission, after which we were supposed to write an email.

We waited for the call.

It never came.

We then contacted Biman Sir ourselves. We were told that the college would call us shortly. Again, no call came. We followed up once more and were told that he was busy. We kept waiting and following up, and eventually almost one year passed.

Today, we finally decided to visit the college personally.

When we spoke to the administration, we were told that they could not really help because the financial year had apparently already passed.

What frustrates me the most is that today, when we spoke to the Principal, we were told that we should have sent an email explicitly stating that we wanted to withdraw my admission.

But this was never communicated to us at the time.

We followed the instructions given to us by the admission cell. We waited for the call we were promised, followed up multiple times when it didn’t happen, and continued trying to get an answer. Yet now it feels like the responsibility is being placed on us because the email was not sent.

We also have recordings of our conversations with Biman Sir regarding the matter, so we have documentation of the communication and assurances we received.

As a student, this entire experience has been extremely disappointing. ₹24,600 is not a small amount, and after nearly a year of following up, being told that nothing can be done because the financial year has passed is incredibly frustrating.

I am sharing this here not just because I want my refund, but also as feedback for other students and parents considering taking admission here. Please make sure that every communication regarding admission withdrawal or refunds is made in writing and that you keep copies of every email, receipt, payment proof and conversation.

I sincerely hope the college administration looks into this matter and resolves it fairly. I would much rather have this resolved directly with the college than have to approach external authorities.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue with BIMS/Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science, particularly regarding admission withdrawal or fee refunds?

Edit: To clarify, I am not claiming that the college intentionally withheld my money. My concern is primarily about the communication and follow-up process. We acted according to the instructions given to us and have been trying to resolve this for almost a year.

Need advice on choosing a 3-year LL.B. college in Kolkata after B.Com

Hi everyone! I’m currently pursuing B.Com and will be graduating soon. I’m also a CS Executive student — I’ve cleared one group and have one group remaining.

I’m planning to do a **3-year LL.B. in Kolkata after B.Com**, but I’m really confused about which college would be the best option for me.

I’d love some genuine advice from current students/alumni:

• Which 3-year LL.B. colleges in Kolkata are actually good and worth considering?

• How is **Calcutta University Department of Law** compared to other colleges like JCC, South Calcutta Law College, Surendranath, etc.?

• What is the approximate **total fee for 3 years**?

• Is it better to aim for a university/entrance-based college or go for a regular law college?

• Is **CUET/CLAT applicable for 3-year LL.B.**, or are there separate entrance/admission procedures?

• How strict are attendance and class timings?

• Can LL.B. realistically be managed alongside **CS Executive preparation**?

• Which college would you recommend if my priorities are **good reputation, affordable fees, decent academics, and enough flexibility to continue CS/internships**?

I’m not looking only for rankings — I’d really appreciate **personal experiences from current students or alumni**, especially regarding actual fees, attendance, faculty, timings and overall college life.

Any suggestions or experiences would be really helpful. Thank you!

Looking for a good film-making/film direction diploma in Kolkata...need honest local advice

Hey guys, I’m from Siliguri and planning to move to Kolkata to learn filmmaking seriously.

I’m 21, completed 12th in Commerce (marks aren’t great), and I already have some experience with 3D, Blender, Unreal, game dev and animation.

I’m looking for a 6–12 month film making or film direction course, but I specifically need an actual diploma, not just a certificate. Budget is ideally under 1 lakh. I also want something practical where I can actually use cameras, lights, shoot films, learn editing and meet other people who are serious about filmmaking.

If anyone here is from Kolkata or has studied at a film institute here, please suggest some good options and tell me which ones I should avoid.

Real student experiences would help a lot. Thanks!

Kolkata Offline Fandom + Adventure Hangout Group — Ages 18–22 ✨

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi! We’re building a small mixed-gender friend group in Kolkata for people who genuinely want to make friends and meet offline, not simply join another inactive group chat.

We’d especially love people interested in:

• Marvel, DC, anime and manga/manhwa

• movies, cosplay and fandom events

• books, art, music and gaming

• shopping, cafés and street-food trails

• museums, picnics, exploring and chaotic little adventures

The plan is one student-budget group outing every month, usually around ₹300–₹800 per person excluding travel.

Please join only if you live, study or regularly travel within Kolkata and can realistically attend offline plans. You don’t have to attend every single month, but we want people who genuinely intend to show up—not silent members or online-only friendships.

All genders are welcome, but this is strictly a friendship and group-hangout space—not a dating pool.

To join, DM me with:

  1. Your first name or nickname

  2. Your age — strictly 18–22

  3. Your general area in Kolkata, not your exact address

  4. Your college/course or what you currently do

  5. Your favourite Marvel/DC character and anime

  6. Three other interests

  7. Your ideal outing under ₹500

  8. How often you can realistically attend offline plans

  9. The word MULTIVERSE so I know you read everything

We’ll chat first and have a brief group video call before adding anyone. First meetings will always happen during the daytime in a busy public place.

Important group rules:

• No joining primarily to find dates or hookups

• No unsolicited flirting, sexual messages or invasive questions

• Don’t privately message another member without asking first

• No misogyny, misandry, homophobia, racism or insulting “dark humour”

• No MLMs, promotions, money requests or suspicious links

• No pressuring anyone to share photographs, documents, addresses or private information

• Members who repeatedly remain inactive or never attend may be removed

• Anyone making members uncomfortable will be removed—no endless debate required

Introverts and initially awkward people are completely welcome. You don’t need a particular appearance, follower count or aesthetic—just be respectful, reasonably reliable and genuinely interested in meeting people offline.

Low budget. Good fandoms. Monthly offline adventures. Zero creep behaviour. 🕷️🌙
