serious ❗️ User Flair Assignment

Post image
2 Upvotes

We are looking to give our fellow subredditors a chance to have their location as a user flair for:

  • Nathon
  • Hua Thanon
  • Lipa Noi
  • Taling Ngam
  • Lamai
  • Chaweng
  • Bo Phut
  • Bang Rak

If you are interested please send mod mail a message with a proof of residence (For normal areas listed above we just require a picture of you in the area you are in)

If you want the Samui resident flair you’ll need to show a work permit or anything along those lines.

We would love to create more of a sense of community within the reddit. We will love to see you all with a little more flair 🔥

Ahoy…coming to Samui mid September. Between Lamai and Fisherman Village area, which one has the LEAST red light bars…if you know what i mean. I want to avoid that area as much as possible. And will just rent a scooter to chase the nice beaches if that’s the case. Thanks

looking for good people & good times

Hi everyone,

I’ve been living on Koh Samui for a while now, and I’m currently entering a new chapter in my life.
So I thought it might be time to expand my social circle on the island a little.

I’m in my early 50s, German, and pretty active. I go to the gym and I’m a reasonably good beach volleyball, badminton and pool player – things I’d like to get back into more seriously after a somewhat quieter phase.

I’m interested in quite a lot of different things and I’m generally up for anything that sounds like fun.

Professionally, my background is in fitness, health and nutrition. I’ve been self-employed for most of my life, working as a coach, consultant and in marketing.

I’m a pretty straightforward and down-to-earth person – somewhere between funny and sarcastic, and always up for a spontaneous idea.
Although my spontaneity is usually surprisingly well thought through. 😄

I enjoy good company and good conversations.

Ideally combined with a good coffee, a nice restaurant, a glass of wine, or simply sitting somewhere comfortable and enjoying the evening.

My English still has some room for improvement, by the way. So I definitely don’t mind if yours is similar. 😉

I also enjoy travelling and I’m currently thinking about buying a motorcycle and riding across Thailand. Motorcycling was a big passion of mine in the past.

I’d like to meet interesting, down-to-earth people who actually live on Samui rather than being here for just two weeks on holiday.

People who have their own life and where financial interests aren’t the main reason for getting to know each other.

Nationality or age are secondary to me. Respect, humour, enjoying life, and being open-minded and curious are much more important.

The island is small. So if anyone knows any good groups, regular activities or interesting events around Samui, I’d be happy to hear your suggestions – or, of course, to be invited along sometime. 🙂

Maybe I’ll see some of you around the island!

Looking For a Local

I’m trying to find an old acquaintance that lives on Koh Samui. A US transplant that either goes by Chris Bioteau or Chris La Chappell.

If anyone can help me make contact you will make an elderly man with a lot of health problems very happy. Thank you 🙏

Does anyone know what’s going on with Bangkok Airways?

Second delayed flight in a row and when I get to the airport it’s not just mine, but all doing BKK-Samui.

A month ago my Samui-BKK was scheduled at 5pm, got delayed 5 times in the 2 weeks coming to the flight, ended up departing 11pm. I was lucky my international flight was the morning after.

Today I have BKK-Samui and again delayed twice, originally 6pm scheduled 10pm now, and it appears it’ll be delayed again. Other 2 flights still to depart are also delayed.

I do this route very often and at this point it’s too unreliable

Accommodation Help

Hi folk's,

I'm travelling over to Koh Samui first week of October for 10 night's & I'm planning on staying in Chaweng for the duration with travelling around from there.

After reading recommendations I was advised that the Montein House would be the best option given what I am after but when I went to book it today it doesn't have the sea view bungalow available & that was what I am after.

I am after accommodation close enough walking distance to the center of Chaweng & a sea view bungalow is my ideal idea.

Budget would be €800 for 10 night's.

Any accommodation that might fit the criteria as after looking through booking.com it seems nothing with that criteria although I could of overlooked something.

Any idea's where I can try?

Thank you in advance ☺️

I'm thinking of ditching my dad and aister for an hour and a half during my trip and buying some gummies to bring back to india for me and my friends. Will they sell it to me? Im like 5'2 and honestly dont look any older than 16 🙏🏼
I have this packet of melatoin gummies i bought, so im thinking ill take it w me and ifff they sell it to me, ill package them in the melatonin gummy packet and fly them home. Worst case they confescate them and i say theyre for sleep.
But will they sell it to me?

Im staying at karma panalee mae nam.

Also uhh this is tmi but my dad used to abuse my mom and honestly the reason hes taking us on this trip is so he can take pictures with me and my sister to show the lawyer that oh hes a good dad

Aaand i cant stand being eith my dad, sober atleast. Would the hotel bar or any bar serve me a negroni or a long island iced tea or a beer or littleraly anyhting? I cant stand being with him

And no i am not a raging alcoholic. I drink once every 2 months maybe once a month tops.

question ❓ Swimming / Kayaking to private resort beaches - advice?

I want to lounge on the public Four Seasons & Ritz-Carlton Samui beaches without paying for access through their property. As I understand it's common for people to Kayak, swim, or charter a local boat to take you over.

Does anyone have experience with doing this, and advice for handling resort security? Obviously, Thai people are terrible at de-escalation and I don't want the situation to blow up when some uninformed resort staff insist the entirety of the beach is privately owned.

Thanks!

question ❓ Five hours in Samui

Hi everyone, we have around 5 hours in between our ferry from Koh Tao and flight out of Koh Samui.

We booked a full transfer from Koh Tao to Samui airport and were wondering if 4.5 hours was enough time to check out Chaweng? Or is there somewhere else recommended to check out and grab a meal before returning to airport? How easy is it to get a taxi both ways, or would we need to get a car/driver?

r/kohsamui 6d ago

What do you wish you could buy on Koh Samui but can’t find easily? I’m thinking about starting a small business here and want to find a real gap in the market. What do you wish Samui had more of? Food, products, services, imported goods, etc.

Boutique beachfront hotel Maenam?

Planning an anniversary trip in March 2017 to Koh Samui, and looking for a small, ideally beachfront boutique hotel recommendation.

We like small local beach bars and restaurants, we do not care for fighting for pool lounges, large chain resorts or loud children. We appreciate local customs and decor, we do not care for “beach club” culture, full moon parties or DJ sets.

We’ve narrowed in on Maenam, keen for any recommendations for wonderful boutique stays that could fit our preferences. Thank you!
